Thanks for the video. The site export/selector option is available on self hosted controllers only. To see the site selector feature, you have to enable “multi-site” in settings/system/general.

wish they had mentioned that at the very beginning of the video as I was hunting on why a new install didn't have the site switcher

Thanks, great info. Which is better to use, this method or the backup/restore (your previous video) to migrate from a proxmox hosted controller to a UCG-Max-NS?
@ToastyAnswers2 ай бұрын
I prefer this method for just about any migration instead of a full backup/restore.

great!! I`ve one question, when you export and import the site on a new selfhosted server, the configuration is migrate too? I hace a console with 10 access point and have 5 vlans configurate on network configuration, I don't want to lose those settings because in each AP is setup 3 ssids with diferent vlan
@ToastyAnswers4 ай бұрын
Yes, the site-specific configuration is carried over with the site. This includes all the wired and wireless networks from the previous site.

One question: I'd like to migrate a self-hosted controller to a UDM Pro (or whatever Unifi brand new "hardware" controller); which is the best method? Thanks!
@ToastyAnswers8 ай бұрын
I should be making a video on this soon. I assumed the site export method would be the best, but since I've actually been messing with a UDM Pro for the past couple weeks... things may not be so simple.

Thanks man , it is beneficial. Can you do that even though new controller is not on the same network ( new controller is in the internet for example.)
@ToastyAnswers17 күн бұрын
Yes, you can. This is actually the method I use to go between an on-prem controller and a cloud-hosted controller. Just put in the FQDN of the new controller when asked to update the inform addresses.

I've been trying to migrate my controller on my PC to a unifi express, but every time I try and connect the new controller, my old one tries to adopt it as an access point. Really annoying!
@ToastyAnswers4 ай бұрын
Yeah, this ends up being an issue when the devices are not "forgotten" from the previous controller prior to moving to the new one. I've had to deal with warring controllers on more than one occasion.

what if i have 100 sites, and i want to reboot my pc, do i have to make copies of something? or after i reboot, i just install unifi controller again and put my user and password?

Is it $29 for 100 devices across all sites, or 100 devices per site?
@ToastyAnswers2 ай бұрын
100 across all sites

Why is the IP of the new site so different from that of the old controller's? Are both supposed to be on the same LAN network?
@ToastyAnswers2 ай бұрын
They're actually on the same subnet. The old controller was 10.88.88.102 while the new controller was 10.88.88.104. The IP in the address bar (127.0.0.1) is just the localhost (or loopback) IP address which means I was hosting the new controller on the machine I was using to record the video. However, many "more advanced" deployments have the controller on a separate LAN than either clients or the APs (if you notice in this video, the adopted AP is actually in a different subnet). This just requires a bit more configuration. If you're interested "Layer 3 Adoption" is how a setup like this is referenced.

@@ToastyAnswers There is a lack of information on KZbin on Unifi controllers migrations. What’s available are either outdated or not in depth. Can you do a few such videos? I will soon need to migrate a few controllers to the newly released Unifi Gateway Ultra’s. I could start with a clean slate and rebuild the configuration from scratch, but doing it through migration will save time.
