I love that your not chasing the trend of over hyping the importance of raw speed or getting the smallest pixel size. Your videos make me remember that i don’t have microscope for eyes and that we have hit a point with printers where now we need to be adding quality of life features and this printer is all about that!

I was watching these printers before I saw this video, but had my main printer died over the weekend, replacement parts hadn't been made in at least two years, and I was able to leverage getting one of these as a business investment. Wow, it really is a game changer, and I am a stickler for quality over quantity. Almost ironically (granted my other printers are quite old now) but they were all mid-size machines in the 8-9.3" range and were relatively slow. After a super solid exposure test (even did the profile two days before I had the actual machine), I went straight into a previous print and it took two hours Less time on the GKTwo vs the old flagship. For me, that's damn near magical status. It's not even moving at the same lift and retract settings as the old one (lift is slower, retract a bit quicker) but still, TWO HOURS saved! Still trying to figure out how that happened, and it was even a bit Overexposed! This was at 1 second layer times...

Brilliant shift towards usable feature improvements instead of chasing 12k. I have been really interested in starting with the Saturn 8k, but this has so many more features like a heated cab system. Would love to print ornithological specimens like skeletal models

Never 3D printed before but I've really wanted to get into printing and painting minis for a while now - the idea of having actual models of monsters and my players characters in DnD instead of drink cans for large enemies and 10+ y/o warhammer minis for the rest of them sounds awesome

Thank you Ross, the day you published the video comparing a couple of other resin printers I made up my mind and was about to order the Saturn 2, but I decided to wait a few days to check the comment section for any feedback and other peoples' opinions. Very glad I did because you said to wait for an upcoming video (this one). This one convinced me and I ordered the GKtwo the day you uploaded this video. Thank you for teaming up with Uniformation and providing us with that $60 discount code, that + free shipping saved me so much money: I got it for $840 while Amazon lists it for $1100 where I live. Today, some 3 weeks later, I finally received it. It's my first printer and I think I purchased the best resin printer for the consumer market right now.

2 months later and a total noob to 3D printing now is in possession of a GKtwo. Now bear in mind I have no prior experience or knowledge and everything 3D printing and slicing etc is essentially witchcraft. Diary: Day 1) Print some flat plate things at different exposures from about 2s to 0.75 and they all look the same to me - at least this thing prints Day 2) Print a 28mm sister of battle at about 0.3 mm layer height and either 1 or 1.7 exposure time, not sure - either way turns out amazing but takes about 6 hours yikes. Day 3) 6+ hours for a mini seems a bit crap for something supposed to be quick, I'm heating the resin to 30 degrees after all, but no clue what settings to use since noone will ever post useful settings on the web that I can find which is ultra annoying so just guessing here - decide to try a cones of calibration - FAILURE - sticks to build plate Day 4) Not sure why cones failed - decide to try again at 1 sec 5mm and it comes out fine, with just some failure cones showing a bit of over exposure... Day 5) Try cones at .075s exposure time - total failure. Decide cones is a lost cause try a full mini build plate at 0.75s and total failure. Day 6) Realise NFEP is now buggered - have a spare so watch Uniformation tutorial on replacing it - replace Nfep , seems a bit loose but maybe that will mean less failures due to things sticking to it. Day 7) Try printing another cone at 0.75s exposure time (bane of my printer it seems), and come back to find resin spilling out the machine, basically everywhere (luckily too k advice from YT videos and have the printer sitting on a rubber pet food mat with outside lip to contain messes) - hurriedly cancel the build and try to clean it up (water washable so there is that). Learn how to take out the 8k screen to check if anything has gone in and totalled my machine - luckily not yet, manage to clean it up with only a drip I can see having gone down the hole where the LCD ribbon goes - try to get what I can with an earbud. - Watch replacing NFEP video again and realise they turned the gasket upside down off camera before fixing to the tray and never bothered to mention it - somewhat annoyed and hoping my machine still works. Day 8) Try replacing NFEP again now knowing I need to flip the gasket before attaching to the tray - makes total sense once you know how, now seems tight as a drum - quietly hopeful this will work along with the printer not being borked after only printing 1 sister. Print a new model at 0.3mm 1.5s exposure time using the slicer that came with the GKtwo this time as some poeple reckon you get better results, and boom it worked great, which means a) my printer is still alive and works and b) I still need to work out how to dial this thing in properly. With the latest model (awesome space trader from raging heroes - great if you like SoB) I realised that if you have the option of support 'on everywhere' it will add supports even to a previously supported model which meant mine turned out as basically a mess of 90% supports with about 10% of a model hidden in there somewhere. The model was very detailed, the supports I printed were insane which meant I clipped through a cane she was supposed to be holding as it looked the same as the other 367 supports surrounding it - so lesson learned there folks, don't use supports everywhere with the GKTwo supplied slicer for pre-supported models. It's been about a week and I can honestly say... it's been emotional.
@turbosnowy Жыл бұрын
Just to follow up for anyone interested - Day 9 & 10) Two completely successful plates now printed at 1.5s Exposure time at 0.03mm layer height, 25 s burn in, added rafts of 1mm to everything and used supports provided by the model creators, all using bog standard water washable Anycubic Grey resin. Now more careful around getting rid of supports - washing in hot water helps a bit with that - have to say this printer is a beast once you get it to work - it's just getting over that initial hump that can be... somewhat painful haha. Anyway hope my settings help any other noobs out there at least have a starting point to try. My next overnight try is to scale a mini up 3x and see if I can print that out (will be about 10cm tall or thereabouts) - had to create the rafts and use auto support creation via the slicer tool, so lots of 1st time trial on this run - let's see how it turns out in the morning, I reckon about 50/50 chance of success haha.
@turbosnowy Жыл бұрын
Day 11) Probs final diary update - I tried a 10 hour overnight print of a 3x scale assassin model last night - had to use a non supported version as upping the scale buggered the presupported in Lychee at least, so added my own raft and supports in Lychee, then loaded in the GKtwo slicer program, added some holes to the base because why not (Lychee wants you to pay for Pro version to save with hollowing and holes it seems - weaksauce). Anway, decided to stick with my settings of everything default on GKtwo slicer apart from 0.03mm layer and down from 3s to 1.5s exposure time and went to bed, hoping I would not wake up to find a resin swamp in my printer room. Results? Total success as it turns out - the model was fantastic, and will be so much easier to paint - I think I might have discovered a new thing (at least for me) - find a 28mm or 32mm mini you like or whatever you can get an STL for and blow it up 3x and print that - since I am primarily interested in painting rather than wargaming, this could be pretty awesome :) Also lastly I guess kudos to raging heroes, I used their current Inquisition (SoB like) release of stls and at normal scale they are great (although I guess 32mm rather than 28mm if you have GW army also, so you may need to scale em down a bit to fit) however at 3x scale which I guess they are not actually designed for in terms of printing, they're still amazing, so well done to them 😀

Great video! Very informative, this printer truly is setting a new bar for home 3d printing. Especially in the feature department! Heat is always and issue for me and seeing manufacturers address this is awesome!

So I've recently gotten into 3d resin printing, literally like 2 or so months ago with the intent of printing some of the STL's I've been collecting over the last few years for my own project. But It's quickly developed from hobby printing into commercial printing as I've opened up a 3D printing store on etsy. Selling all sorts of models and miniatures, but I'm realizing that for some of my models, and should I ever get enough of a stream of orders, this one printer of mine, an Elegoo Mars 3 pro, is not going to cut it. Large models are essentially cut off from me as well as a lot of terrain I would absolutely love to offer, even though I'm more a fan of figures and not buildings or terrain. So really, my main intention for the GKtwo would be future proofing my little store and helping me expand into additional model types, scales, and allow me to print multiple orders at once which I can just not deal with right now. Not in an appropriate time scale at least. All whilst feeding my yet still growing pile of shame and funding my studies in creative writing and possibly even game design afterwards.

Hell ya! I was thinking about getting one of these and this video made up my mind. Kinda a no brainer after watching this. Thanks🤘🏻

Its interesting to see the variety coming out of the woodwork in 3D printing now, more companies trying to be the leaders in retail resin while other pursuing the eco angles.

Thanks for the super thorough review!! This printer looks amazing, I think you’ve got me convinced. Musical instrument nerd here, so something a little different I’d love to print a custom pan flute to add to my collection.

I’ve been doing some resin printer research as of late, aka binging your videos. Have my eyes set on scooping one of these beauties up some day because of the chamber heater alone! Sounds like an absolute game changer, especially with these cold northern temps. If I were to win I would be printing minis until I reach enlightenment. Been working on my 3d sculpting chops and excited to the idea of being able to hold them in person. Love your videos, greatly appreciate you doing all the hard work for informing all us 3d print enthusiasts

Way too many cool features. Love it. Even the small details like the brim thingy around the build plate. Also, the print bed never gets completely under the resin which makes it cleaner as well.

FWIW, I bought one of these recently and was surprised to see that they now include spare "feet" for the vat.

My Elegoo Mars Pro 2 has just broken and customer support has been no help so I've been watching your videos trying to settle on a Saturn 2 or Saturn 8k, but then I came across this video and I'm sold on this printer! I'm in the north east in the UK and it is COLD which has meant no printing for about 7 months of the year, this built-in heater will be a lifesaver. Looks as though they're out of stock until August but at least it gives me time to save! I usually print minis for our Pathfinder campaigns and some big monsters from Loot Studios, would love to print the kraken on this! Thanks for the informational video!

Thanks Fauxhammer for your great reviews. I recently got a Saturn 8K, but this printer looks awesome and easier to use.

This looks like it would be a great addition to my burgeoning print farm. Don't really need a heated bed since I'm in the US south, but everything else looks amazing. I'd especially like the vat screw system. No more having to hunt for the screws after changing FEP.

It really sounds like an awesome printer! New to the 3D printing world but I really want to organize some printing/painting activities with kids to make them discover and enjoy this great hobby! Getting this one would be awesome!

This printer is so awesome and the heated resin vat is great! I would print so many things with this, lots of characters for a train platform to start with!

You can really tell the difference in care and over engineering of the unit. Definitely my top pick for my first printer.

This printer would be awesome to have, test and use. I would print wargaming miniatures for my friends with it and useful stuff for my household. Additionally, it would be a blast to use it in an educational environment in the future. It has many QoL improvements over other resin printers of this dimensions.

Wow, I'm sold. The improved life qualities of this machine are well thought out. I am still using the original anycubic photon and have been looking for an upgrade. I'm looking to make some high quality miniature prints for my weekly D&D sessions as well as some showcase pieces.

This setup is amazing, if I had one I'd make minis or bits for minis. I may even use it for a side hustle and really dive into 3d printing various other items.

Looks incredible! Been wanting a resin printer for the longest time now, I’d be printing OPR, busts and all the files I’ve been accumulating over the years to name a few

The heated chamber is a great feature for those of us in colder climates. I’ve recently been printing minis for my kids who have finally followed in my footsteps and picked up their first 000 paintbrush 🖌️ and vintage pot of goblin green paint

Just got some of the models from Witchsong and found my tiny photon s is simply too small to print some of them without changing their scale... So that's what I would print with a bigger plate! Love the reviews, has really helped with researching the new tech out there.

This printer will be a game changer. I am setting up a 3 d print lab with fume extraction but the biggest thing missing is a heater that i will not need with this printer ! Awesome ! Parts, miniature and prototypes will be amazing to be printed with this.

Love the look of this. I’m loving printing my minis but the room is 100% too cold! If I close the window to get temp up, I’m left with the stink.

This is a fantastic printer and I love your honesty in your resin printer reviews! You are my go to guy for 3D printing info, and I cant wait to get my hands on the Wargamer resin when it is more widely available! Just subscribed to Archvillan Games and excited to print out some snakes!
