If you're using biscuits work from the laminated face not the underside . Tops can vary in thickness better to have a step on the underside than the face .

Fitted my first worktops the other week. Didn't have biscuits, or a proper bit for my half inch router. I improvised with 50mm strips of 6mm ply with a 6mm bit in my quarter inch router. Stupid idea really. I was super careful and slow and used the guide fence along the top of the work top but there still ended up with a nasty step near the back. Only like a fraction of a mm but I could feel it. I was so determined to get it bang on. Proper pissed me off. I'd fitted it dry and it was good, but once I'd glued up and was committed it didn't fit back properly. Like I say, only a fraction of a mm right at the back. The customer was okay with it but it really bugged me.

VERY dangerous to move the router in an anti-clockwise (right to left motion) against a jig or guide fence! BAD ADVICE FROM YOU
