Oh wow, I am from Jamaica and I never was taught this in school. Yes we know of the treaty yes we know Nanny. I am from Portland where we have Maroon town and Maroon descendants who still live their cultural way of being a maroon to this day wow. what are we been taught in school I mean where is the rest of the story. I am so grateful to have found this channel thank you so much. Can't believe they never ever taught us this in primary of high school now I am upset with our education system.

I am a Downey and my ancestors were Maroons. Visit NS sometime and see the Citadel Hill that they built. It was dedicated to them. Lots of history there.

@@dominicpersaud1155 That's fantastic to hear since when my daughter left Jamaica in grade 6, she wasn't taught this, and so it's great that the school curriculum has been revised.
