My advice to everyone is this : if you want to grow big this year especially in your finances. Be willing to make investments. Saving is great but investing puts you on a pedestal where you wouldnt have to worry about savings as you do now. With Loraine Souvenir, my portolio is doing really great and im proud of the decisions i made last year.

If the 10 year hits 6% real estate is COOKED. Investor owned RE is a massive liability for the real estate market. No normal person sells their house because the price dropped by 5 or 10% because they need a place to live. But investors can and will dump their RE holdings if/when prices fall. Why hold a devaluing asset when you can sell and make 6% on your money in the bond market with no risk and no effort? But it gets worse because unlike a normal person an investor could sell 2 homes, 200 homes or even 2,000 homes, but buy zero. Massive additional supply but zero additional demand being added to the system will blow up inventory levels. Increased inventory would put even more downward pressure on RE which would encourage even more investor selling. RE could easily find itself in a powerful negative feedback loop with every force (investor selling, higher rates, higher lending standards, loss of home equity) all pushing in the same direction- down.

One of the reasons yield curve control is coming to central bank near you. And one of the reasons why it is irresponsible of the Fed Chairman to evade questions on the excessive deficits and fiscal spending.
@jonathantaylor6926Күн бұрын
@ YCC fixes nothing but i don't disagree that is a possibility. The problem extends well past the treasury market- the FED will have to buy MBS debt too. If RE price go down the collateral backing the MBS market falls apart and the UST/MBS spread will increase.

Higher rates is a crowded trade. People forget there's such as thing as recession. I think we will be reminded this year.
@jonathantaylor6926Күн бұрын
Recessions are no guarantee of lower rates even if that has been the case in recent history. You might see some move down in rates initially but once the bond markets start to see higher government spending as a response the recession and lower government revenues as a result of the recession you could easily see a move up. Increased spending and deceased revenues mean a tsunami of additional treasury issuance. Who buys all that debt at what yield remains to be seen.

Love your videos, Chris...BUT, I see one problem with your analysis when comparing returns of your strategy vs. the "buy/hold" and "60/40". You always mention that you take profits as the market rises, ie. you take money out of the market at it hits your targets. So you are not 100% vested the entire time when the market makes its 41% and 43% moves, right? Don't get me wrong, I think your method is better and makes sense, but it also would not capture the entire upside moves. Am I wrong?

@TheTechnicalTradersКүн бұрын
The markets still do move to where they want to go during uncertain times. You cant just think one person will hold the world market up or keep rates low just for this Trump towers. When major cycles happen no president or Fed can stop the change.
@raymicciche8869Күн бұрын
Inflation is only caused by the expansion of the money supply. Interest rates follow inflation. If the 10 yr hits 8% it will be only due to money printing. Same thing happened in 70s. Fed funds was cut, money printing resumed, and inflation rebounded 3 times. Volker raised Fed funds each time to curtail bank lending. The Fed can increase M2 by QE or bank lending can increase M2.

Since my portfolio was mostly inflation and more liquidity play (Gold & Silver) for a year now, I added 8% of my portfolio couple of months back to TMF mostly as hedge for deflation/recession and also because you continuously said all this while that bonds are in bottoming process for some time now. Looks like you switched today and went bearish on bonds. Even though I am sitting on 20% loss on my small TMF allocation, I was not worried thinking probably a year or so from now, could recover my losses on this one. Please let me know if I should hold it or sell my 8% TMF?

I haven't lived in Canada for about 18 years. Are Canadians still dks about the US dollar? When I was there the USD was up like 10-15 cents over the CAD, but if you handed any shop a USD they would say "We don't give change based on the exchange rate. We treat it as CAD, so this Dollar is worth ONE CAD." And they would just keep the change. But.... When the CAD got 5 cents above the USD, they would say "That $1.10 USD, sorey."

When I told them I was moving to Toronto, they all said "That's not Canada.Toronto thinks it's Canada, but it's not." I will tell you Toronto is bipolar. 10 months out of the year it's the most aweful place to live, ever. Never saw Snow and lighting before Canada, either. The summer months... completely different: friendly, expensive cars, hot girls, great weather, random people on the street would invite me to drink with them, or to a party.
