Someone hook this man up with a compressor! I see a lot of youtubers with a tenth of your skill getting endorsed all the time - you definitely deserve to have a sponsorship deal mate! Great video as always Kasper - Its great to see all the work that goes into these builds rather than the way others gloss over the hours spent sanding and filling.

Doors: It's very important to drill drainage holes. Diameter 6,5mm at least, unless the surface tention doesn't break. Also make sure to clean the holes after applying fluid film or simular conservation materials like Mike Sander.

I is indeed important. and the holes are already there, on this one. Thats probably part of the reason that the bottom of the doors still exist :)

On my new Chevy square body doors I had to file the drainage holes, they were more like slots than round holes, but where they were punched out still left an area that would've held maybe a quarter inch of water, mud and dirt, so I filed down the lower side with a chainsaw file so it'd all drain. My friends dad use to pour motor oil in the doors of his old cars to slow the rusting at the bottom seams.

Ah, i can finally see some of that juicy DeWalt yellow. It's corded, ye, but even corded DeWalt is good. Also - as always, great video, great craftmanship, and this time - some really good music as well. We're all waiting to see the new founded glory of this little unimog.

Haha. well i have never really been too concerend with the brand of tools that i'm using.
@FAR2G7 ай бұрын
@@KJOff-Road True that. A tool's job is to perform and survive, everything else comes form the operator. It's just i have a soft spot for those damn things after working with them for two years at a factory. This might be petty, but hey - it's the little things.
@AlbertSA37 ай бұрын
Can't wait to see what color. I know black is out of the question and wouldn't look that great anyhow, especially with a lot of body work. Fleet white would look pretty cool on a Unimog, but every speck of dust, dirt and mud and rust shows. Yellow, orange, or green would look sharp. So would camouflage. A dark blue would look good on a new one. Maybe you're going with something totally different? We'll just have to wait and see. The repairs look solid and should last a lifetime.

A labor of love! It's a hard line to walk between doing what's barely sufficient and what's aesthetically pleasing. You're making great progress on the bodywork and on walking that line too! Thanks for sharing all of this with us KJ. I'm sure that filming and editing take up a lot of your time and make a long tedious paint-prep job even longer. Good luck with the air compressor challenge.

Always look forward to the latest installment of project 421. Quick question for you.... What thickness steel do you use to make your repair sections?
@KJOff-Road7 ай бұрын
It varies a bit, depending on the part i'm patching up. i try to match the stuff around it. most of it is either 1mm or 1,2mm but the structual parts, and things that i just want a bit stronger, is usually 2mm
