I am absolutely GREEN with Envy!! I am on my second Mog in the states and its a U1300L and I have driven it plenty on and off road but have never been able to really LEARN how to most effectively use the truck, you guys make this look like old hat and some of the stuff you drive over and through is to me just scary because of complete lack of experience. In the US they have Mog Fests generally East coast and west coast which means 1300 miles of pulling my Mog one way but I am going to have to just buck up and do it. Thanks for posting it was a great pleasure to watch it!!

The U1300L is a nice truck. I preferred it to the U1700L as you had more low speed control without the turbo. It is also much easier to load/unload and embark/disembark. A perfect stores truck, especially for RNZE use. It was the preferred vehicle for carrying the M37 stove with M57 propane burner unit. The older M37 petrol burners stayed in the Q store. The Infantry mortar teams loved the U1300L because you could dispense with the 1/2 ton trailer towed behind a (Land)rover V8 and … the U1300L has a smaller turning circle than a Series III V8. Cheers from NZ🇳🇿. P.S. You have an advantage over us because a Unimog steering box is always on the left hand side. In our vehicles there were two universal joints and two shafts; to provide a right hand drive steering wheel position, resulting in no self centring for the steering. P.P.S. Check the electrical junction box for the rear lights, just behind the rear axle. I assisted a fellow NCO in redoing the junction box connections because some moron had apparently waterblasted that box and failed to remedy the situation; resulting in NO rear lights. Plus, always use full diff lock when driving through water that is deep enough to contact the hub seals. The automatic transmission fluid-filled hubs must be pressurised, in order to keep the water out; especially if they are hot. You need to check the fluid for water contamination at the end of every day that involves water crossings. Another important piece of maintenance is … regular greasing of the accelerator linkage. Lazy bastards fail to use the supplied 5mm Allen key to remove the central access panel below the heating/ventilation controls. I came across this negligence during driver training when one of our vehicles had a stiff pedal.

It looks amazing, its off-roading capabilities are just something else and it's just such a diverse 4×4 truck🚚 . Love the truck🚚, and love the video 📹. I miss my ADF days. When we finished our 109 drivers course we were deployed by trainee officers on the puckapunyal training area on a night drive in poring rain with night vision goggles up a slippery zigzag track with trees ether side. Many canopies were torn, bows and lats were bent but we had fun.😂
