I was a student at Nottingham in the early 1960s. Pity there is no record of those days. Free ice cream and pizza is a new one on me as well as a Glitz party. I was a cox in the Boat Club - and I don't remember they ever bothered to find out if we could swim! If you fell in the Trent you needed your stomach pumped out and there was a story that a crocodile had been sighted (true) - it was thought to have been someone's pet which had overgrown its tank. Anyway many thanks to Savannah for bringing back some happy memories and good luck with your studies. It's amazing how quickly 3 years pass by.

I thought she deserved credit for her interesting video. For any current students reading this your first degree may seem quickly over but the memories of your Nottingham days will stay with you for the rest of your life - partly thanks to Savannah and her contemporaries.

I have to admit Savannah is more grown up than I was when I first went to University. She has plenty of useful information for others starting their course or considering Nottingham as a place of study. I wish I could have my time all over again. Good luck to all of you and especially Savannah.

Thanks for doing this. My son has chosen UoN for his Maths BSc in September and and this gives a good idea of what to expect during freshers week.

Neil Tennant of the Petshop boys wrote the 'East end boys and West end girls' song at the UON, whist chilling out visiting his brother on the campus.

how has been security in the city for you this far? is crime a thing?
@SavannahPhillipss5 жыл бұрын
xooox Thanks hi!! Generally crime isn’t too bad at Nottingham. As in any city you do hear reports of things happening but I feel super safe when I’m on campus (university park). In fact, I’ve taken walks around campus at night by myself and felt completely at ease. :-)

Nottingham appeared to have a high crime rate (Not now days though) because the city unlike other cities does not count in suburban areas like Edwalton, West Bridgeford etc. So there are two councils, if they decided to just have the one council covering a similar area as other cities do then Nottingham would have been near the bottom of the crime league tables. So it's a perception. The Nottingham Campus is awesome !

It looks like the first week really doesn't introduce the workload.

First week allows people to build social connections and get used to living away and also sort all the uni admin things. Second week is usually when studies begin.
