A union member has told James O'Brien why he couldn't bring himself to vote for Jeremy Corbyn in the general election.
Scott, a factory worker from Birmingham, told the LBC presenter "the IRA connection" is why he couldn't face voting for Jeremy Corbyn over his alleged support for the terror group during the Troubles.
He said: "He just doesn't represent me mate. I know there's a lot of propaganda that's on social media, the likes and whatnot, but it's the IRA connection for me."

I'm a Brummie. I've voted Labour for 40 years until last Thursday. I remember very well what the IRA did in my town. This is what John MacDonnel said about the people who did it. "It's about time we started honouring those people involved in the armed struggle. It was the bombs and bullets and sacrifice made by the likes of Bobby Sands that brought Britain to the negotiating table. "The peace we have now is due to the action of the IRA. Because of the bravery of the IRA and people like Bobby Sands, we now have a peace process." The bombs he speaks of include the ones in the Mulberry bush and the Tavern In The Town. The "bravery" he spoke of includes the "bravery" of the men who planted them. This is what has become of the Labour Party. This is why I couldn't vote for them this week. This is why I may never vote for them again.

@@januszdelondres I have no idea if or how many Irish people were summarily executed with a bullet in the back of a head, But you miss my point. Imagine an politician praising the people who pulled the trigger, calling them brave and courageous. Then imagine that politician standing before the families and friends and communities of the executed and asking for their vote. If he did it in the Falls Road or the Bogside he'd be hung from a lamp post.

@@januszdelondres Of course not, I'm not Ghandi. But to state the 'brave men of the ira' is akin to stating 'the brave men of the paratroop regiment'. Both disgusting statements in context. Jeremy Corbyn’s “affiliation” with Sinn Fein can’t really be legitimatised while the tories were in government with the DUP can it? @@mariogmajner6549 just a guess but are you a member of momentum? The reason i ask is. A few people were having a polite chat about why we didn't vote for labour and you first reaction was to attack insult and assume they voted for the conservatives. Why doesn't o'brien go to the next stage in the analysis and ask this guy to do a thought experiment: ask the guy if he voted leave in 2016 referendum. If the guy says yes then ask him how he would have voted in the GE if Labour had had a different leader but the same manifesto. Then it starts getting really interesting.

I feel for this person from Birmingham. I am not a Labour voter (neither a Conservative one), but I can understand their frustration. Jeremy Corbyn has many issues surrounding him, but the thing that stood out for me was his lack of communication. It was as if he felt he never needed to explain himself and that suggested arrogance and utter contempt for the public. Jeremy Corbyn was his own best enemy. I am not surprised that people felt they couldn't follow him.

You can only vote for Boris Johnson if you live on his seat. I feel nothing for him for his choice. He has a very short memory when it comes to how Tory MPs view those in trade unions. I live in Northern Ireland and we've had no government here for nearly 3 years and our public services are on the verge of collapse. No one knocked on my door during the campaign. I didn't vote. Won't ever again. I dread the following decade and wish I were 20 years younger and in a financial position to emigrate.
