Do a video on challenger 3985 over the years. Either that or may be Canadian national 31 which was I believe the very first steam locomotive the Strasbourg railroad, got their hands on during the preservation era.

I'm waiting for 3985 to be restored before I do that.
@lucasquintanilla1673 Жыл бұрын
@@ottomatic6432 well, I wanted to know if you would consider one of these three suggestions then Union Pacific 4014 would definitely be something people would ask although I must say considering it’s Long retirement and how it’s excursion career started only a few years ago it might be a little premature to do a video on it just yet You could attempt to do a locomotive on foreign soil, such as flying Scotsman, as it has been 100 years since it was completed, and there is quite a wealth of change over the last century that has happened to it, such as tours in America and Australia and the fact that it has gone through many paint schemes over the years . You could also consider doing one on the British locomotive city of churro or of the new built locomotive named tornado that was completed in 2008 over in great Britain although perhaps that last one might be a little too recent even if it is gone through a few paint schemes since then. The third suggestion might be a video on a diesel locomotive, and while many diesel locomotives tend to be overlooked there is one in particular, that might actually have some documentation to it. Union Pacific 951 is a E9 streamlined diesel that was retained by the railroad for excursions like how 844 was. Notably, it was loaned by union pacific to the American freedom train project for use as the preamble express, which was used to scout out routes for the freedom train in 1973 and 1974. The locomotive remained in this bicentennial paint scheme until 1977 or 78 when it regained its armor, yellow paint scheme. It has been used on some passenger excursions and public service relation duties when 844 or any of the other steam locomotives we’re not available. Ever since 2017, 951 is in storage at the union pacific round house due to the fact that it needs some wheel work done to it and preservation crews have been paying attention to the steam locomotives for the time being.
@lucasquintanilla1673 Жыл бұрын
@@ottomatic6432 also, whenever you do eventually do one on 3985. There is a bit of information on it I discovered. If you have ever seen the movie, the last of the giants, which is primarily about the big boy steam locomotives, you will know that there is a part of it, where they mention the challengers, as being the immediate predecessor of the big boy. However, briefly at one scene where it is talking about the challengers, you get a close-up of one locomotive that happens to be challenger 3985. If I would have to guess this is probably the very first film appearance of that locomotive and potentially the first time known film has been recorded of it.

Why did they change the number from 8444 to x-844?
@CarolinaSpecial-No.1397 Жыл бұрын
The X in X-844 isn't actually apart of the number and it simply means extra. As for why it was changed to 8444 it was mainly due to the fact that in 1962, UP purchased GP30's from EMD, one of which was numbered 844. So, an extra 4 was added, which it kept right up until said GP30 was retired in 1989. As far as I know, the GP30 is preserved at the Nevada State Railroad Museum I believe.
