One of my favorite freight steam locomotives, the Union Pacific 9000-series 4-12-2, was proudly presented by ALCo (The American Locomotive Company) in the late-1920s. TE was 97,664 lbf, a bit higher than the PRR J1's 95,100 lbf (without booster engine) which was built about 12 years later than the UP 9000.
In Trainz, the UP 9000 can handle an 8100 tons coal train alone without encounter any problem and maintain a 9-15 mph speed. But the PRR Class J1 needs two to maintain acceptable speed. There must be some minor mistake in either engine's config file. But just as any simulator, they all have limits. The UP 9000 is a very well made freeware from Trainz download station, PRR J1 is a product of K&L Trainz.
There are 16200 tons of coal delivered to you for free, so I hope you enjoy your BBQ tonight!
Thank you for watching! Please subscribe to support our channel if you like our videos! Thanks a lot! :-D

The 9000 Series, A Locomotive of Singular Design.With 12 Coupled Driving Wheels, It was the Largest non-articulated Locomotive ever built. It Ran Twice as fast as the mallets, But used less fuel. The 9000's served well on the plains where rails curved gently, But in Rugged mountain country where Sharp turns resisted stiff legged engines, Their performance were Imperative.

I remember seeing that documentary! It was "Last of the Giants" by Union Pacific! Oh, and instead of 'imperative', it should be 'impaired'

The 9000 series had the longest rigid wheelbase in North America, and the longest in the world until the Soviet Union built their AA20 4-14-4 locomotive in 1934.

Not bad for a try with 9000. Somewhat odd it got bogged down. That could just be from steam being able to start more than the can pull or a malfunction with something about the engine
@TheBroughamGamer
@TheBroughamGamer 5 жыл бұрын
Also is it just the engine settings but I believe the real 9000 would have a much higher boiler pressure than that 110 average

@@TheBroughamGamer You are right, I am going to check what went wrong of the engine config file! Since the 9000 was a rather old but very well done 3D model from a few years ago. In real life, a steam engine have 100,000 lbs TE should be able to tow a 10000+ freight train without stalling and capable to reach 40 -50 mph!

Got the engine beat right. With a third cylinder, these locomotives 'waltzed'across the Plains. ONE-two- three, One-two-three instead of the 2/4 beat of the two-cylinder engines or the 4/4 beat of the Mallets.

1 4 12 2 was saved in a museum? It ran comfortably in 100km/h No. 70km/h. yes then it was shaking rather much. 100 was an absolute limit. Rebalance the wheels now to use it better with hotmetal also, = No more smoke. OK balancing the drivers add or remove from 5 cm inside the wheel rings on the balancing weight side. Left front remove 470g r 600g add 450g r 70g r 56g r 67g Right side front r 45g r 600g add 590g r 700g add12g add 50g Then you can go 170km/h 45 69 98 90 97 American lot.
