Union Pacific “Big Boy” 4014 departing Columbus Nebraska 06-11-2023

Edit: I have no idea why the audio cuts out during the middle of the video. I’m currently working on figuring out the reason, though I suspect it is due to an processing error.
A video of Union Pacific’s “Big Boy” 4014 departing Columbus Nebraska after a whistle stop on Sunday, June 11th, 2023. Big Boy is on it’s way to Omaha Nebraska, where it will be on display during the College World Series.
I do apologize for the uneven camera angles and quick zooms. I was using a selfie stick on a cheap tripod, and the weather wasn’t helping.

Okay, now that was cool a mix of passiner and frite. And ending with some thing that you don't see anymore and that is a caboose! Nice and I enjoyed seeing it thanks for sharing this video. I hope that you get a lot of likes for this video because most trains don't have cabooses on them. So to see one is very rare. Love from Marysville, California

@@steamrailwilly Dear colleague! In the interior of the "Big boy" cabin, I saw a pipe from the tender to the firebox, the stoker sleeve runs lower, apparently this is a conversion to gas? Thank you! I wish you success. Michael.

4014 after restoration is now so weakened by converting to diesel oil that it needs a helper locomotive to get it going! What a shame.

@faerieSAALE The Diesel is more for safety reasons than power. Try as one might, but you can’t put full Positive Train Control (PTC) on a steam locomotive.

The point of the diesel locomotive is for dynamic braking. In other words, to conserve brakes of 4014!
