Union Pacific, Chicago & North Western 1987-1988 & Colo. Joint Line! These are freight trains from the Midwest to the Southwest 1987-1988. Union Pacific and Chicago & North Western freights charge across the prairie through Nebraska and Iowa along historic US Highway 30. Many trains still had cabooses during their final days of operation. On Colorado's Front Range, trains of the Santa Fe, Rio Grande, and Burlington Northern railroads championed the mountainous Palmer Divide on a daily basis. Denver & Rio Grande Western freights also conquered the famous Tennessee Pass line in Colorado. Finally, Santa Fe and Burlington Northern trains traverse the desert lands of Texas through places such as Dalhart, Amarillo and Canadian.

Sounds like the unit (3262 judging by the snoot nose, phase 1a perhaps?) at 3:35 has a 2nd gen. Prime 920. Cool

Right now viewers do not have to pay a fee to watch these shows. Nevertheless, the costs in time and equipment to make these shows can get expensive. Would you be willing to subsidize these shows to get an ads free experience? If enough people say they will, I might consider a Go Fund Me campaign and remove the advertising.

Stuff like this is why I’ll never get excited over a widecab GE. The poor young railfans now will never know what it was like to photograph multi-colored consists that didn’t suck!

What’s the difference between an SD50 and SD60? I have trouble telling them apart.
@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideos

Very little on the outside. On the inside, an SD60 is controlled by a computer microprocessor. An SD50 is not.

@Walt Loevy Oh, ok. Even if there is very little on the outside on them, how do you tell them apart on the outside? Is it the vents or radiator fans?

I know that UP SD50s were in the 5000 number range back in the day, and UP SD60s were in the 6000s. CNW numbered them in the 7000s and 8000s respectively. DRGW only owned SD50s. Conrail, CSX and NS I would have to look up on a roster.

@Walt Loevy Hmm, that’s a good way to tell them apart actually. I knew D&RGW likely didn’t have any SD60s but I do know they had some SD50s of their own. Same with Conrail(although they also had SD60s), CSX, UP, and NS.(Except I don’t know if NS ever had SD50s) I do know that NS either rebuilt or sold their SD60s, and obviously they rebuilt most of them into SD60Es. So I’m glad NS does still have theirs, even if they are no longer original SD60s and now have those unique looking crescent cabs.

Internally, sD50 had a 645 motor, SD60 had the 710. Externally, SD50 had 6 doors under radiator grills, SD60 had 8.
