Clearing is very fun when the rco operator tries to shoves a track next to you over the hump but, leaving you trapped in your track for 45 minutes till he clears you up. He only clears you up because he has to pull the cars he tried to hump back into the track he shoved out of. We brought a train in but, didnt have enough time to pull one out because of this. True story about two weeks ago.

Oh, i forgot to mention as a railnut the BRC offers just a hint of vintage architecture and rail layout eyecandy. I'm sure as you know the loco shops use to have more tracks entering it back in the day. the crew/clerks office next to the loco shops the interior has old tan colored rectangular tile on the walls. The section were the clerks office used to be has a old half bottom half top swing door i think it might have a small shelf built into the top portion of the bottom door so the clerk can lay paper work on it for crews to pickup. There are post office style boxes to put paperwork in for the various trains that needed it. and i think to the left of that po box section was a window the clerk could talk to you from. As you roll down the main Thoroughfare, particularly the (one on the) North(North Thoroughfare) you, can see vast streches of open "fields" ballast,weeds & vegetation and dirt and uptiurned earth and ballast scattered about indicating major rail activity in it's heyday.

At 4:02 you won't see switching (stacks) yard two this way anymore.

Part of it. The high numeral tracks 47 - 66 are gone. Currently it's not active. They now switch cars in Yard 9. Cars are switched from the opposite end of where humping operations were. All flat switched now. Kicking cars and shoving to rest. Most cars are not kicked into the hump because it's uphill but, Yard 4 the yard directly east is downhill so it's kicked most of the time.

Is the 3638 an SD 9043MAC? and is it still in service? Was it renumbered from 8242? This is a very good video. First time I've seen it today. Thanks for posting.

What was up with the 90MAC’s? Do they have stored locomotives in this yard? Were they active!?

They were active until 2015 so they were active on this video

You missed your big chance some sat in yard 9 for about 2 1/2 years or so before they got rid of them ie. sold or screpped.

BossSpringsteen69 that makes sense now. They still have a couple in North Platte but are also stored. They’ve been stored there for years as far as I’ve heard.

@@GMTX-kg8ep One of the mechanics told me they were sidelined because of fuel leaks and cracked frames. I suspect the units that had cracked frames got scrapped. If others just had fuel leaks they got sold. Just speculation on my part.

@@oakcreekrailroadproduction3907 There were a handful still active to my knowledge. Several were already stored in yard nine for years prior to this video. As a railroader they can be a nightmare putting the handbrake on when the electric handbrake motor goes kaput with the 60-80+ hard turns of the hand crank.
