Great playthrough to watch and very informative. A nice pace (compared to others I've attempted to watch) and no annoying music.

Thanks for the tutorial. You are the best in the business. I do miss the extended playthroughs. 😪 often you covered interactions that didn't happen in the basic tutorial. I understand the time commitment though, just giving feedback. Have a great day Jon

I particularly like the ebb and flow of the buy price vs. the sales price. Thanks for the terrific tutorial.

Thanks Jon; great tutorial as always! It looks like a very decent economic game with some twists especially when it comes to the 'puzzle of building'.

based on the description i had heard about the game, i almost skipped this one. Glad i didnt. This looks like a very tight and competitive game. Need to see the 2 player board side.

Hi Jon, thank You for another great tutorial. I like the price-mechanic in the game a lot. Yet, I do not if this game is for me but I will keep my eyes on this one. All the best from Germany.

Great video! I'm glad I watched, because I never would've guessed the game was this cool! I noticed you did the TTS mod too - nice work on that! I'm curious: why do the meat markets have the values they do? If you always take the difference between market price and your price, why not just make everything 1-14 or 1-16? Is it historically-accurate or something?

As always an incredibly clear teach for how thorough it was. I had no interest before watching, and now it's on my list of games to pick up. A very interesting collection of mechanics that work well with a theme that doesn't draw me in but does make the game more cohesive.

the see time x:x for an example stamp at 6:34 has a typo. it says 'even' instead of 'event'. not sure if that's fixable, but figured i'd let you know!

Ah dang, there's no way to change that now. Hopefully it's not too confusing for people.

This is interesting. Remind me a lot of City of the big shoulders with the timeline, city, and the map on the actual board the exact same way it is for CotBS. Might just be for the prototype but it seems obvious. Maybe it's just me though.

Definitely has a Big Shoulder vibe but different. Just as good though. I love what im seeing.

As always, thanks for contributing to my lack of money in my savings. "A historic game about slaughtering cows, pigs and lambs, mixed with politics?" 5 minutes after watching another great JGG playthrough....."Where's my wallet?"

Would have been nice to see more rounds of gameplay 😕 I don't get why the last person to move up on the Brand Reputation are the ones that get the tiebreaker. when constructing, is it possible to completely block someone off from being able to build anything?
@JonGetsGames2 жыл бұрын
I generally only show enough rounds to teach how the game plays. I'd hoped to show more for this one too, but the video length was already to the point where bringing it to an end made sense. In construction you always trace a path through other buildings, so if one player is blocked from building then most likely all players will be blocked at that point as well.

Thematic, the most recent company to promote their brand is most recognizable in consumers' minds. Gameplay wise, the creates tension between moving up earlier to gain in-game benefits versus later for end-game rewards. Also creates tension because the person in the lead for Brand Rep needs to worry about others catching up. Very rarely would more than one player max out the track in the same game, but if that happens, you can advertise, etc. to gain Rep to move to the top of the stack. Another aspect is that it gives a slight advantage to going later in turn order late in the game, that is if you are going after Brand Rep.

Jon did a great job of answering, plus explaining it in the video. To directly answer your question, no (except at the end of game), you cannot block someone from being able to build. You can make it more difficult through building placement, forcing them to take a Build Viaduct action (not something you want to do). You can also purchase the land in their prime building spot, forcing them to pay you for the land, but this does not prevent them from building there. At the end of the game, the last one or two buildings may not fit into the grid, but sometimes they all fit, depending on how efficiently or disruptively players placed buildings during the game. So you could prevent the last building from being built by your placement of the second-to-last building.

What a strange? eclectic? offensive? choice of theme. Depending on who you are, pick the adjective that suits you.
