At this rate the book store has a very high chance of closing down within the next year. And when that happens everyone will be going from just being able to live in New York City. To being forced to move from new York City due to not having a job. Cause on top of just about everyone having a e-reader. People can get the same books online for in most cases cheaper.

These people are insane. Who doesn’t know that store has been on the edge of closing for years and they want to strike during their only busy season? As a person in a union myself I support them but they have to know how hard it is to to find a union job , find any job, to like where you work and know you are safe for at least another year. I hate to say it but physical books are dead and it not that we don’t want them our homes are too small to house them in NY. Start there and you will realize there are so many layers as to why physical books aren’t selling especially here. .

Alot of people are buying e-readers now. Bookstores are not going to be around forever. These workers should honestly pivot to a different industry regardless. Book Store sales peaked in 2007, but have been on decline ever since. The book market is on a steady rise, but alot of that is taken up by digital sales.
