I wish I had a doctor like this. My psychiatrist used to tell me that I'm not a bipolar because he never saw me in hypomaniac state. Of course! he doesn't live with me, and when I go through a hypomaniac state, I tend to hide and not let others see me in such a phase. It is a shame for me. I don't want people to see me im my "highs", I love my lows instead, I love depression, I love crying, I love suicidal thoughts, I love the calm and stillness I get in my lows

Probably the best video to help explain the two. State to the point.

Nicely described...this would be a great way to explain the difference of the two in laymans terms to our patients.

Be careful! The bipolar diagnosis was trendy several years back. After years of management with SSRIs, a psychiatrist diagnosed as non-DSM (no manic episode) bipolar and had me take ever increasing levels of Lamictal. Worst year of my life! Found new psychiatrist, went back on an SSRI and within a few weeks was feeling so much better. Still feeling good years later. Be careful about a trendy bi-polar diagnosis.

About a trendy whatever, some years ago, it was TRENDY to diagnose patients as Borderlines. I think it's very dangerous to follow trends to diagnose and you can ruin the whole life of a patient who is trusting you 🥺 such a shame

As always. Unipolar expressed as the least painful of the two. No no no. Overlooked like crazy! Yes choice words.

If you say that you are both bipolar and unipolar ,it makes you ultimately a bipolar, you would not be treated for unipolar anymore. Also when you say your in the middle of bipolar, it would need further assessment as to most of the days how is your usual mood like, or how frequently you have a manic episodes.

I recommend you see a provider because as the video stated, treating unipolar with an SSRI is ok. Still, bipolar, it can make manic episodes flare when a mood stabilizer is not on board.

Ridiculously sexist to say women are the intuitive historians. Men are too. It depends on the individual, not the sex.

And he said it woth such self important matter of fact arrogance. I'm glad we have more women in science so we can shake off this archaic nonsense
