Safety First: Use a qualified rigger to rig your aerial silks. Be fully warmed up before you attempt any exercises on the aerial silks. Place a crash mat underneath you and have a spotter to assist you.

Thank you very much for this video. I was so frustrated when I tried again and again to make the inversion with no result. I think that this exercises will help me a lot to improve my strenght, knew the correct movement and achive the inversion. Love your tutorials. Thank you!!!

Thank you! My ceiling is 15ft so my silk is about 36ft (double the ceiling height then add some) hope that helps!

Thank you so much for sharing. I hope this helps me to get my X straddle back inversion, I’m having a really bad time trying to make the inversion, is just that I don’t rotate that much my knees so my legs don’t go with them :( I’ll try these exercises ASAP! Thank you

Eva Pimentel a X straddle back is definitely harder than just a normal straddle, doing any exercises than build up your core and upper body strength will help! When you do a x straddle back inversion, make sure the x is over your butt and low on your back, keep legs wide and straight, do a little pull up first to create some slack then lean back and push the silks away from you. Raise your legs as you do this. It’ll probably take time and practise as it’s not a easy move at all, you’ll get it!

I love this channel! I can climb up and get to a straddle by getting my foot to the silks first. Struggling to move past this point though. Do you think using a pull up bar to invert on would be good practice?

Thank you for this. I'm a beginner and am struggling hard to get into a straddle. I can kind of get into pencil but even that isn't very strong.

Inverting takes a lot of strength and technique, it takes a while to build up to it, keep your training consistent and be patient with yourself, it'll get there :)

@@UniqueAerialists Thank you for the inspo - I hold myself to unrealistic expectations. I also only have a very low ceiling for silks and minimal space. I'm saving for a rig.

The straddle is one of those really frustrating moves that's so much harder than it looks! Just remember everyone progress at different rates and has different starting points, keep practising and you'll get it!

Do you have any tips if I can get my straddle invert but I can't hold the straddle once I'm up there? I can go up with straight legs but I have to immediately go into the next move because I can't hold the inverted straddle unless I'm in a knot or a crossback

Hi! Thanks for the great video. Do you have any tips or conditioning exercises for how to do straddle from straight legs and straight arms? I can do straddle from bent arm, bent legs from a climb but cannot do straight arms, straight legs at all :(

Hi! Inverting with straight legs is easier than straight arms so I would focus on that first, it'll also build your strength which in turn will make inverting with straight arms easier. It's on my list of things to film but I have a video of conditioning exercises and tips on deadlifting a straight leg invert on hoop which will translate easily to silks :) hope it helps!

I hate all inverts with a passion. Can you do this as a progression system? Like do all the low knot stuff then as it gets easier go to the high knot then to the really low knot. Or is it better to try all the basic ones on the same day?

Yes they're all building up the correct strength, technique and muscle memory so whatever order works best for you :)

Quick question, Do you recommend inverting with your outside side hand higher or lower than your inside hand?

Hi I have always been taught to invert on silks with your outside hand lower, this is because for most moves you need to take off your outside hand so it's easier if it's lower and has less chance of getting caught under your leg :)

Ive trained on silks with no elasticity but when i bought some for me to self train at home they arrived with alot more elasticity and now everything is generally harder, specially the climbers and the foot locks really hurt which i didnt have a problem with starting, any tips?

Hi silks do come in different levels of stretch, if you have bought silks with more elasticity than you're used to then it will probably feel really weird to start with. Generally if silks are low stretch they are better for beginners as they are easier to climb and do footlocks, if the silks are medium or high stretch then climbing will be slightly harder but drops will feel nicer. Keep using them and you will get used to it :) and they will stretch out, I use medium stretch silks and they don't stretch half as much now as they did when I first bought them!
