Unit 1: Human lifespan development - Exam paper walkthrough JANUARY 2023 📝📑

Following some requests for a walkthrough the exam paper - I have taken a look at the January 2023 exam paper and discussed how I would approach and answer the questions.
Overall I thought this was a really good exam paper and had some interesting questions / topics that have not come up much before e.g., Bandura & Social class as well as some fairly regular questions of puberty, self concept and attachment.
I'm not a examiner or involved in the creation of the exam paper - i just discussing my thoughts and plans on how I would approach questions

Wouldn't the answer to 1a be 55 to 69 if we're looking at low middle income?

Yes! That is correct. I was thinking the exact same thing and I think he did it wrong. So we are right.

Hey there is a unit 1 exam on the 15th are there any predictions on what you think will come up?

I don’t really like making predictions in case they are wrong. But, what I have noticed on recent papers is self concept/image/esteem have come up frequently. Also thinkers like Piaget, Gesell, and Chomsky have been used a lot so make a point of looking over these.

I have a health and social exam on 24th of may and I just feel like crying because I haven’t been able to go to school for over 2 years because of some traumatic experiences now I’m being forced by my school to sit my gcses with no understanding but watching your videos are really building my confidence and I just to say thank you. Hi Kallie, I’m sorry to hear you have had a difficult time with school and have been put under pressure for these exams. Which exam are you sitting on the 24th May? I have some videos on how to answer some exam questions but not sure if they will be relevant to the exam tour sitting.

hi, why do some ppl do the unit 1 exam in january and others do it in may.. i’m quite confused with this

It comes down to centre preference. My setting used to have the students sit the unit 2 exam in summer but we switched our teaching around so they could sit the exam Jan and then have the choice to resit in the summer.

The paper was a really good one to be honest! No horrific questions with a lot of what was being asked similar to questions in the June 22 / jan 23 papers.
