The Music Industry and the music press go on about the 1990s being The Golden Period for Hip Hop Music and it was without any doubt. But the 1990s was also the golden period for the music of House and Garage hands down - no argument. Everybody within the House music scene wanted to make the music better than the next track that was put out within the genre - and the clubs were packed with people that truly loved the music and the culture around it... I bought this when this came in the first week of its being released. It was a US 12INCH IMPORT. COST ME A LOT. BUT I HAD TO GET IT BACK IN 1992 I STILL HAVE IT - I GOT IT JUST FOR THE VOCAL MIX ON THIS 12 INCH

A tribe called Quest... was essential listening in the 1990s, if you wanted to take a chance with HipHop.

also jungle, drum n bass and early trip hop! plus grungre, alt metal, alt rock and many other genres, 90s were the apex of music!

Just want to add: real house music, the one that was made out of music exploration on new machines and their brand new weird sounds, is located in the 80s and Chicago was the epicenter. So was for techno music in Detroit and electronic music all around the world ( GTO from UK for example).Hip-hop was let's say more serious back then as well, let's think about Erik B & Rakim. In the 90s discoveries were already made, boundaries were already pushed and genres were put in place. In the late 80s it was... limitless...gherkin gerks (Larry Heard) was making acid so hardcore and ahead of time that until these days we didn't gather enough imagination to overcome that. What I want to say is that even if this is an amazing 90s house track, masterpieces are still hidden in the second half of the 80s to satisfy music hunger of the past and coming generations :)

@@hazare2 I agree with you on the Decade of the 1980s. It was in my humble opinion the greatest decade for Pop music overall. Musicianship was now being helped hugely by technology that entered the decade. For instance how we listened to Music (The Walkman) and later on THE TV PROGRAM called Miami Vice, how we watched musical artists perform (MTV), how we bought records (12-inch records becoming standard in purchasing music), and lastly the tribes that followed these groups increased substantially. as the styles of music increased within the 1980s For Instance, using the music of Rock and Heavy Metal music as an example. The music of Rock and Metal within the 1980s transgressed to these styles - Hair Metal, Thrash Metal, Industrial Metal, and Ait Rock. If you liked House music - First came Chicago House, then Deep House, then Acid House... and then came the Italian House vibe which crept into the House music quarters....... In my humble opinion, only the 1960s came close to the 1980s. Everything came together in the 1980s. However, the new musical giants of the 1980s which were the music of House and HipHop both reached their Zenith in the 1990s.......Both music really made a push towards incorporating the music of Jazz and Soul vibes within their makeup...
