This is a track from School Playground, our 31st album, recorded in 2016. Text and music by Andy Martin. Cooper was the leader of our gang in school. He and his girlfriend (Susan Wilkins) took all the weakest, most timid pupils in class and taught us how to fight, how to learn and how to respect ourselves. He was the boss then and as far as I’m concerned he is still the boss now. So there. The pictures are by Noriko Nakagawa; she also provides many of the bird paintings used on our other tracks.
