Decided to make a colorchord mode that would run on Unit-E's luxehedron ( luxehedron.com/ ). It worked out surprisingly well!
ColorChord is an open source chromatic sound-to-light conversion tool for assigning LEDs to sound intensity mapped into an HSV colorspace. github.com/cnl... If you want to add colorchord to any of your own projects commercial or non-commercial, it is free for use!
Check out Declan DP's video (And channel!) Much thanks for him granting permission to use!

wait what, why does the glass look transparent but also mirrored at the same time? is this special glass or a special coating ? ho do you get both the mirror effect and be able to see through the panels at the same time?

The same glass/film used for magic mirrors. It's also used for interrogation rooms, where you can see them, but they can't see you. It's simply called a one-way mirror and you can get them as whole panels (glass included) or simply as film (where you stick the film to glass).

@@christianeaton you mean a 2 way mirror right , isn't a one way mirror just a regular mirror ? i have seen those hexagonal glass boxes before ,terrariums but they have normal glass i was wondering if there is a film that can cut , something thin with self adhesive backing you can get to stick to regular glass

I like the idea of the luxehedron, but is it made of gold? How can they justify the 1400 dollar pricetag?
@0xbenedikt
@0xbenedikt 5 жыл бұрын
That doesn't sound too far off. Not a bad price for a commercial setup. This does not seem to be primarily intended for home use, but rather as decoration on festivals and in clubs, etc.
@haaspaas2
@haaspaas2 5 жыл бұрын
@@0xbenedikt its a ridiculous price in any context unless Im missing something. My guess is they just manufacture really inefficiently (low volume, high cost), which is a shame because I feel there is a market for these at the 150-300 usd mark.
@0xbenedikt
@0xbenedikt 5 жыл бұрын
@@haaspaas2 I've seen worse quality for more money. It is, as a lot of low-volume gear is, not really intended for home installation. It's not going to be just the materials, there is the labour (assembly and software development) involved (at US, not China-wages) as well as the low sales which requires fewer units to cover the running costs as well as there is a lack of the economics of scale.
@heathernunyabizness5258
@heathernunyabizness5258 5 жыл бұрын
Because it's art. It took an unbelievable amount of skill and dedication to create this. I can't imagine the hours spent and the failed attempts to get it right. Not to mention the cost of materials both used and wasted in prototypes. They made it look easy. It isn't.
@gearyae
@gearyae 4 жыл бұрын
@@haaspaas2 I wish I'd answered this sooner, but the mirrors actually turned out to be the major cost drivers for this. $510 for a sheet of pre-mirrored acrylic! Those and the need for unusually high amperage for the 540 LEDs running 5V drove some pretty nasty electrical requirements. I've got a redesign coming for a 10" version that gets under $500 in low quantities due to smaller, thinner mirrors, and dramatically reduced amperage and higher voltage. I can get those significantly lower if we can get some investment, but we've never had the money to do things like buy $10-20k injection molds. Care to invest???

I know! I could build one in a few weekends for, well, 32$ for 9ft of the same WS2812b 144led/m LED strip, 2$ for an STM32, ~30$ for the aluminum, ~75$ for the acrylic, and lastly ~25$ for the mirror film. All for the grand total of ~164$, or about 8.5 times cheaper than their cheapest model. Lol
