Since we don’t see the ashworth saga ending soon, United should fill in this position asap, with Berrada supporting the head of recruitment, until ashworth begins his role as sporting director in summer. All of Newcastles good work was done before Ashworth was even in place. Since he come to the club our transfer windows have been mediocre at best, we failed to bring players to the club in January, or get rid of any players to get funds in. Bruno, trippier, Botman, pope, and even technically isak all where before Ashworth, isak transfer was already in place before Ashworth, so if your thinking hes going to perform miracles in the transfer window that isnt going to happen immediately. My main point is, if your thinking Newcastle will buckle because they are worried about a replacement, then that's not going to happen.

You said it yourself. Newcastle can not spend what they want with FFP. These restrictions effect Newcastles ability to spend their wealth for years to come so the effect of Dans wages(which is believed to be around £2M ) being either on the books or off the books is nothing on the grand scale of things. As for not having a sporting director, well, there's nothing stopping them putting another man in the position even if Dans there. The money and effect of the money involved is minimal. Selling on even a really low value non-essential squad/reserve squad player covers both Dans and a new replacements wages(the only other problem would be if they poached a new guy and had to cover compensation themselves). Newcastle function very well before Dan arrived and would continue to do so even if no other person was appointed to a position that was up until recent years not even a position required to be filled. So essentially, Dan sitting on a beach or tending his tomatoes is no real skin off Newcastles nose. It has far greater implications for Man Utd . Eddie has had his own team in positions of scouting that he trusts, so that wont be effected in the slightest. Keeping Dan from Man Utd also has the added bonus of giving the teams plans and focus time to offset if they require from any plans that Dan has intel on. The longer that goes on then the less Dan has knowledge of. Maybe thats worth more than £2M to Newcastle anyway, who kows?...

What makes you think that because Ashworth is on gardening leave, and Man U can't get him, this is any way suggests that Newcastle can't replace him? There's nothing about this that even suggests that Newcastle are going into the summer without a Director of football. They have plenty of time to bring someone else in while leaving Ashworth sitting at home.
