In the beginning Mike talks about the comment whether Mario 3 was intimidating to us when we were kids, and pointed out that World 8 was a bit challenging. I would actually add more. I think the Ice World was pretty challenging, with all the sliding. Also, World 7, with all the pipes and levels that wrap (when you go left and end up on the right). Some of those were pretty challenging too. In general, I think Worlds 5-8 were pretty intimidating.

Looks like this hack goes hayware at least on the older version of EDN8. Apparently the hack uses 256K PRG and 160K CHR ROM, but for some reason flashcarts for some reason or another don't like obscure ROM sizes. I had to expand the other half of the CHR with a bunch of zeroes, in order to play this on my Dendy.

Dude … some of those KinHank systems are pretty awesome . I have a Super console X Cube 128gb … The thing is an absolute blast .. Plays up to N64 and not all the 64 stuff plays great or at all but basically PS1 and down all run excellent.I want one that goes up Switch now

Hey Mike, heard you talking about Bobby Bumps from the silent cartoon days. Do you like watching them? If so, do you have a favorite or maybe a recommendation that I might not be aware of? I've always been a fan of Max Fleischer and his work/techniques. Betty Boop, Popeye and especially Koko the Clown. Oh, and I like this hack. Good designs and gameplay. A little simplistic but the original was along the same veins. SMB3 is probably my favorite Mario game.

This is something I noticed with these Mario hack streams: -It kinda appears that a Mario 3 hack needs to do less to convince you to keep you playing compared to a Super Mario World hack. You mentioned at the beginning that this hack's difficulty was about the same in the first levels as in vanilla Mario 3 and that it only got really challenging near the end. Yet during some streams where you tried out Super Mario World hacks, you would turn the hack off a few levels in if it didn't have some difficulty in it (although I guess the hack makers of those ones probably also had some difficulty curve in mind). Maybe this is because you like Mario 3 better than World and thus give its hacks a bit more leeway? Or it could also depend on your mood that day, of course. But hey, this is just an observation by me and could very well be me not fucking know what the fuck I am talking about :). Anyway, be it Mario 3 or World hacks, you enjoy what you enjoy. Have to say that the Nintendo Switch Online service does nothing for me personally so far but I like PS+ because it usually has games included that I can download for free or a bargain and not just current ones but PSOne and PS2 era games. That alone makes it worth it for me personally to shell out 10 dollars a month. Games that don't have a link on your Games I've Beaten On Stream list: -The Legend of Zelda: Allhallows Eve (SNES Hacks/Homebrews/Unreleased) -Contra Deadpool Special Missions (NES Hacks/Homebrews/Unreleased) -Star Fox 64 (N64)

I do like Mario 3 better than Super Mario World. Some of the Mario World hacks rely a lot on the spin attack which I don't really like. I also like the Mario 3 landscape better than the Mario World environments. The dinosaur stuff doesn't really do it for me as much. I like the environments in Mario 1,2,3. When it leans real heavily into the dinosaur stuff, it's fine, but I'd rather it be like the earlier games.

Technically it's a good hack. I just didn't like World 1-2, when you noticed that the overworld is autumn trees. But when you enter stage it's lush and green, almost a jungle. Maybe let the editor know to stick with his overworld themes stronger? I think you may have appreciated it more. They could've made world 1 the autumn world better with the stages to reflect it more.
