@@reflex3843 Only one of the Shinkansen lines is maglev and that will not open for some years to come. All the other Shinkansen lines are conventional rail, albeit in standard gauge (1435 mm) allowing for higher speeds. Normal train lines in japan are (mostly) narrow gauge (1067 mm) which can not support trains faster than 160 km/h.
