@@donwhittaker9824 I tuned both of them pretty close to when I got them around 4,000-5,000 miles and I will have a video tomorrow on everything done to them!

For my previous Mk7 GTI, I used the Unitronic stage 1+ and Stage 1 DSG tune. It was beautiful and consistent. I had it for about 130k km. After 90k km, I had to adapt it to DSG because it started to shift funny, but that fixed the issue. I never had any problems but used ODBeleven to clear codes after flashing because there were some error messages that would be missed with the diagnostic mode. Their tune was super close to stock till about 2500 rpm. Then you'd see more power past 4500 rpm. So, being on the highway or staying up in the RPM gave you all the power you wanted while driving like a sane man gave you, similar to stock fuel economy. Perfect for a daily. With my Mk8, I think I'll go with the APR 87 octane low torque tune, which will give me more flexibility and a limited warranty since my car hasn't been touched. Not being locked into buying 91 or 94 constantly for a daily that barely runs 60km during the week is nice.

Ive only got one tune and i like it ,for my 2020 GLI the Apr stage 1 tune and the DSG high torque 93 octane. For both it was 1200+ tax. Great video dude

Would you recommend the intercooler upgrade on just the Stage 1+ tune? Have you noticed reduced heatsoak since adding it with your tune(s)?

I haven’t pulled up numbers yet with the obd11 ( I plan on making a video on this ) but I would say the piece of mind with the bigger cooler and better flow especially with how hot it gets here in Utah during the summers is worth it I will be posting that video here soon.

I just ordered the APR Ultralink…hopefully the dealership doesn’t screw me for service after the tunes. I’ll be honest with them and hope for the best. You’re super lucky to live in that landscape! Our country is gorgeous! I live on the east coast (upstate NY, also not bad)…my wife knows that my dream is a month long cross country road trip in an RV. Hopefully soon.

Interesting! So basically you have a complete opposite feeling than the other guy who compared all the stage 1 tunes on dyno and on the road… the channel of Vancity Audi. He said that on the road, the Uni was the more « punchy » and in your face tune and the 034 was his first pick for a more linear feeling and less aggresive, having APR at his #2 spot. Vancity had their GBX file which essentially overrides the TCU and allows for more torque to be sent but with a regular stage 1 file you’re torque figures are much lower because you have less boost

My car doesn’t require a TCU tune the car I’m tuned on with unitronic is my manual 40th AE not our DSG. So there’s no torque limit due to the TCU

Try Giac the car runs great raced srt8 and only lost by 2cars 20-100

Have you had any issue with the stock clutch because of the extra power?

I did when I was on the high torque 034 tune I then backed off and went to the low torque setting and am now running unitronics tune
