Unity 2021.3.7f1 + FMOD 2.02.07 + Steam Audio 4.1.1 + Viking Village setup

In this video I'll talk you through setting up Unity 2021.3.7f1 + FMOD 2.02.07 + Steam Audio 4.1.1 using Unity's Viking Village Project.
Important sidenote:
I was running the native apple silicon version of unity and this didn't work out with the phonon plugin. I got the infamous error down below:
"SystemNotInitializedException: [FMOD] Initialization failed : Loading plugin 'phonon_fmod' from '/Assets/Plugins/FMOD/platforms/mac/lib/phonon_fmod.bundle' : ERR_FILE_NOTFOUND : File not found."
Now this is normally easily solved by moving a file to a different location (I talk about this at 10:53 in the video)
On windows this error didn't occur anymore after moving the file, but on the Apple Silicon version of Unity for Mac it kept returning the error that the file could not be found, even though it was in the right location. Switching to the Intel version of Unity for Mac (using Rosetta 2) solved this problem.

hey, I got steam audio working with FMOD and Unity in the acutal unity editor, but once I built it, it gave me the error of not being able to find the steamaudio plugin, and no audio was playing. Do you know anything about this?

Hey Im am using steam audio 4.4.0 and the newest Integration of fmod it looks like they moved the files to the right location but im still getting the "initialization failed : loading plugin 'phonon_fmod'" error any ideas how to fix that?

have the same error (on Mac at least) I fixed it though. Seems to be a bug, If you look at the console it will probably say that it can't find blabla at . If you look close at the that path, you can see that it actually refers to "/Users/user/Desktop/VikingTest/Assets/Assets/Plugins/FMOD/platforms/mac/lib/phonon_fmod.bundle" There's 2 times "assets" in that string. If you recreate the folder structure and put the file there it will work, at least for me. @@julienfullhd7748

Heyy! 🙂 Me and my colleague are using Unity 2020.3.20f1 + FMOD 2.02.07 + (hopefully) Steam Audio 4.1.1. Seems that with the recent Steam Audio update (the one who brought it to the 4.1.1. version) our project is not working anymore. We're trying to work with occlusion and eveything related with the Steam Audio Spatializer. Given we didn't found much support online, we're here asking for help! ahah Would you be up to a Discord call somewhen? Thanks a lot for your time!

@@cunningfox146 Hello Cunning Fox! :) No, unfortunately we didn't find a solution. The situation go so far that we had to uninstall the Steam Audio Plugin and rollback to the native FMOD solution. Lots of time spent, lots of swear words said ahah
