Today I am making Part 2 of AR Occlusion with Android AR Core, also keep in mind that Occlusion is fully supported in ARKit. This video shows you a demo app where an Occlusion Quality setting is added to demonstrate how to change Occlusion Quality or also called Environment Depth Mode in runtime.

AROcclusionManager - Does not work correctly with objects that are located far away (15 meters or more). These objects are initially displayed on the stage. If there is a Temporary Smoothing check mark, then the object is not visible, if removed, then the object is visible but incorrectly (a mesh of the object is randomly cut out, although there is no obstacle in front of the object) Tell me, please, is it possible to solve this somehow? Have you ever encountered such a problem?

Thank you for your very helpfull videos! I have implemented environment Occlusion in my project, but I find that objects are cut out with a very strong edge (not like what I saw on Google AR Search app) Is there a way to soften this transition between the 3D object and the occluding environment? Maybe some way to blur the mask? The occlusion 'mask' has quite a lot of frame to frame jitter and variation, which is incredibly jarring for the end-user experience. Especially when the device is in motion. (beginner dev here)

Is it possibile to use occlusion on the detected plane? I need to use occlusion on a virtual floor but i can't make it. Thanks in advance

is Occlusion work on all iPhones/iPad or the iOS device must have LiDAR support for AR occlusion?

I imagine this is an ARKit limitation. Unity's ARFoundation is just allowing us to access ARKit's functionality... and it's a lot of processing that's happening here to detect the hand before Unity even tries to pass that along to alter the shader output you seen on your screen. So really you just have a quality option... and the better the quality you select, the less jagged that edge should be. But it's also much more difficult for the phone to process, especially an older device. It's the tradeoff, and probably why Dilmer is showing us how we might change the quality if the user has a newer or older phone.
