Recently got an RME Babyface Pro FS and man I started to hear many details in music that was never there before like I use totally different headphones.. the sound is of this device is worth the investment imo also the portability there is nothing as compact, mobile and as professional as RME. I strongly recommend! So happy with the investment.

Nice to see a fellow Adam Audio fan. 🤜🤛 I love my A7V monitors. I just ordered the RME from Zzounds (used your link 😉). Should be delivered on Friday. I'll be using it just for listening to music and playing PC games.

Thank you very much for the support!!! And I love these A7Vs also. I'm REALLY tempted to order a pair of A8Hs to test and compare. You're going to love the RME. I just made a video about me changing my mind and switching full time to the BabyFace Pro Fs. Be patient with the mix software. It's a bit tricky to learn but when you see what you can do with it, you will probably never look at another interface brand. lol

instant sell my UAD Apollo X4 after getting RME Babyface Pro FS. If you are invested in Apollo software and plan to travel on the road, and you can't bring the interface with you (bulky, heavy, extra power cable) then expect your project to fail miserably. I have since steer away from UAD plugins as much as possible, except if using it via UADx version then yea. Babyface Pro sound quality is just very clean, warm, high clarity, and simple to use with just a usb cable, Plus nowadays the CPU processing power is so great (using M1 max) the whole DSP chip is just a tech debt right now in my workfllows.

Hi - thanks for the review. I am tempted by the apollo. I am also a windows user without thunderbolt. However, I wondered if the thunderbolt version would work with a thunderbolt hub, such as the caldigit ts4. Any idea?
@joshuabutlermusic
@joshuabutlermusic 11 ай бұрын
I’ve heard different outcomes with Thunderbolt hubs. I can’t verify myself for the Apollo but I’ve never had good luck with similar interfaces and a hub. Your mileage may very.

Returned my Apollo x4 for the RME Babyface Pro FS. Easier to use for live gigs and you don’t have to use external power. Also, I don’t need all the bloat that comes with UAD.

No contest here. RME all the way especially since UADx plugins run natively and make the DSP redundant when using Apple silicon computers

That’s when mixing but not when tracking. Uad plugins can be tracked through low latency and it’s a far better experience than RME. I have both and I stopped using the RME except when I travel.
@digitalmarketinghumans
@digitalmarketinghumans 6 ай бұрын
I have both. You can't go wrong with either or. I can say this, it's a bit semantics but when it comes down to actual play back and sound quality, the RME sounds a BIT slightly better but with that being said, Apollo Twin X is still amazing, and the DSP plugins are amazing, although may be bit pricey but well worth some of them. Again, both are REALLY good!

One of the biggest advantages is definitely the ADAT connectivity. UAD has only a IN. If you are willing to expand your I/Os then you’re shot out of luck. I’ve been on a Apollo for the last 3 years and I love it but the ADAT connectivity does suck a lot.
@xfghffhfg
@xfghffhfg 2 ай бұрын
Only ADAT input also means you are forced to use the converter clock and slave the Apollo twin X to it. Not ideal. Funny how it's the exact opposite of RME, they will never cut costs like that.

Great video. I had the silver face apollo on windows and had a few weird issues with no sound needing power cycling and also hated the fact I had to change my Ableton main outs to 5/6 so the apollo console would speak to it properly. Sounds like they have not given TLC to windows even with the X?

My man, this is definitely a personal preference, apart from what you said, it is suitable for both uses for home users, but it is a pity that you did not mention the converter qualities. Everyone already knows Apollo plugins and total mix. Instead of addressing a subject that everyone knows, you could have considered the detailed converter and preamp qualities. Still, you have produced a content as you wanted, but you could have elaborated on this KZbin video content and provided clearer information. Thanks for your interest anyway.

Put somebody who talks about the sound differences between converters in a blind a/b test and see how they lose all their confidence :)
@Katonarap
@Katonarap 2 ай бұрын
@@xfghffhfg I don't think I will lose in the Babyface Pro and Apollo blind test. Because they are two different sounds. You can think of it like, you are eating an apple and a pear with your eyes closed. But you can't say there is no difference between a pear and an apple, because you know the taste. You can define a behavior or a taste you have learned with your eyes closed. An ear that cannot distinguish a transparent sound from a colored sound cannot say I know this job.

@@Katonarap You are entitled to think that but this is not scientifically true. This belief is based mostly on manufacturers ' advertising and users' biases. If you are a critical thinker and prefer to be wrong and know the truth (and do some hard work) Blindly A/B test it yourself, also there is much info about this subject already. I would start with "Monty Montgomery Show and Tell"

@@xfghffhfg I would like to say something like this, then, I can tell the difference between Neve Uad Emulation and Normal Neve. While I had a Babyface Pro sound card, I did a blind test comparison with Pro FS. And I know the result. As I said, if you know the products you use well, you will know. Again, as I said, when you notice a taste, you know where that taste comes from.
@xfghffhfg
@xfghffhfg 2 ай бұрын
@@Katonarap I was talking strictly about converters. Scientifically it's not possible to diffrient a Babyface Pro from a Babyface Pro FS converter by human ear, not even RME will claim that. Frequency response, noise, jitter, harmonic distortion and other artifacts (what you call "color") is well below human ear threshold In a factor of more than 10x times. This was also true 20 years ago. You can get "better numbers" but it will not sound any different, I know it's mind boggling, we have been lied to and continue to be lied to for centuries.

Can I use multiple monitors 2pairs (4monitors) with the RME audio interface? And mirror output 1-2 to 3-4

I run 2 pairs of speakers but i have one running on the SPDIF on the left side digitally, u can do pretty much any routing setup u want to do w their totalmix mixer, u can make various complex setups n save them as snapshots to jump between. maybe u can look into a monitor management box like a big knob passive if u can only do XLR.

I’ve been using Apollo interfaces for a number of years. I’m interested in trying RME because of what I’m hearing about the sound, but the software looks about 15 years old. They should consider a complete overhaul/update of their design. It sounds like it’s not intuitive, and it just doesn’t look very inviting.
