Thanks for the video. My programmer went wrong last night after 21 years. I've just took it off to prep for a new one but thought I'd hoover all the backplate and tap the programmer gently, you never know, it's been in the same place for a long time. It's now working fine. I will get a spare next couple of days.

Thank you; VERY useful & presented very clearly.👍 I'm 78yrs & moving from a Potterton E2000 (I installed 1982/3 with rest of house systems!!) None of my original kit failed as the newer stuff appears to do. Y plan valve, programmer & roomstat all lasted 40yrs- All I had to do was replace the pump once, replace boiler thermocouple once and replace the battery in the EP2000 once!👍 The clever old business model of planned obsolescence raises its ugly head....but at least it creates jobs & keeps the land filled!! I'm still trying to discover if I need separate junction/terminal blocks for Neutral and Earths in a new Drayton LP112 or 41 programmer as there's not the space or block terminals for these in the new Draytons compared with the old potterton EP2000. 🤢 Update: discovered that you DO need a 'Wiring centre' which was built in with the good 'ole reliable Potterton EP2000. People seem to favour the Salus wiring centre as cheaper and with larger terminal capacity than some and cheaper than the Honeywell 'Home' unit.
@mrcombiBedford Жыл бұрын
Dear Noacks, I remember installing lot and lots of EP2000's very good programmer but as you say no room for all the cables, do what I did was, get a wiring centre from Danfoss or Drayton then just link the L N E and HW ON + CH ON to the EP2000 or ANY programmer which was too small for all the wires, especially the Honeywell ST699 (excellent square programmer no room for all the wires) All the best, George Staszak 👍

Hi George, I am replacing my EPH T27 - RFI, which has just failed, to the new Ember enabled R27-RF. The old one was an 8 pin universal plate, with terminals, 1 (live) 4 & 7 bridged, the new one is the std 6 pin. Is there a simple swap, from one plate to the other? Many thanks Chris
@mrcombiBedford11 ай бұрын
Hi Chris, thanks for asking, yes this will be difficult but not impossible, 1st take fotos of old and new backplate. Make a drawing of each wire colour start from left N then Live then 1 2 3 4 trace where each goes take lots of FOTOs! repeat each wire. Any wires between 1-4 that are BLUE put a yellow or black tape to show voltage. Hope that helps. 👍

Hi Marcin, Thanks for asking, this happens a lot, no problem, the new programmer needs power L+N also C + SW.L, the best and cheapest way to to install and lowest running cost is to go RF, see my two vids with Drayton, either 901 or 902 (2 channels) To go Smart is good but more complicated to install (NOT DiY) and cost a LOT more money, all the best, George Staszak 🤩👍

I have a Drayton lp522 with a wireless thermostat. I want to upgrade to the Drayton wiser for smart functionality. I believe they use the same backplate. Is it a case of just swapping the units as use the same backplate. In terms of disabling the wireless thermostat will it work if I just disconnect the receiver from power? Thanks for any help

Hi, thanks for asking, First take fotos of the back plate and the wiring centre and learn where EVERY wire goes from to. Look at what the new B'plate connections and compare. Don't rush take your time is always best, if you get stuck Drayton has lots of VIDs. use this link www.youtube.com/@Draytonheating all the best. George Staszak 😀👍

@mrcombiBedford11 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for asking, they use the same Uni backplate all you need is to check the Drayton T1 is the same path as the Hive then change if necessary repeat this on every wire, that's how I do rewiring. Always check and recheck before switching ON. hope that helps, George 👍

Hi Millsey 123, It doesn't matter about the back plate only the wires, all receivers (relay box) have a N - L then 123 or ABC (C NC NO) all to is take a photo remove follow Wiser info which wire goes where. My Danfoss HW/CH controller is located in a quite awkward position (low in airing cupboard) which makes it difficult for me to bend down to and see it. I like to put HW on as and when I need it, so I need to regularly access the controller. I want to relocate the controller a few feet outside the cupboard to a much more convenient position. Before anyone asks, no, me hiring a professional to do the job is not an option due to cost. Basically, I need to (safely) extend the wiring (making sure each channel wire-extension goes to the right place in the controller, yes? What's the proper stuff (wire and connectors) I need for the job....Anybody?
@mrcombiBedford3 ай бұрын
Hi David, thanks for asking, controls wiring is not for DIY because you are messing with 230vAC which is dangerous. Please trying find someone who has a certificate of attending a course, shop around there not all expensive maybe pay by instalments. I have seen your installation too many times, (I used to charge £200 to rewire now its £300+) 1st power OFF to remove the cover take lots of fotos which terminal has which colour wire, do the same with any junction boxes, Start with the easiest PUMP wire where does that go? Make a drawing, Cylinder / room stats do the same, Look at my VIDs on wiring a room stat Y / S Plans, have the book or get the APP. Big danger is BLUE neutral wire are they being used with voltage, if so that MUST be rewired, not allowed and dangerous. If the programmer is over 8 years consider 2 channel RF, see my VID. that is easy and will save you money more controllable HW & CH.good luck, George Staszak 😀👍
