Are you able to face the mags in the same direction (bullets forward) or do they only seat in opposite directions?

Holds Glock magazines quite well, but anything metal, and thus thinner/slicker this thing cant hold on to to save its life. Even empty, a gentle tap upside down and it lets whatever is inside go.

Well, mags tend to mostly get longer as they get larger right? So the width dimensions not changing would make it hold any length really.
