As shown in this same movie, she was convinced that he was going to marry her before he got killed, but in fact he never had any such plans, and as was revealed in Curse at that same time he was obsessing over Sarah Pierce and holding her hostage. So, doesn't come as a surprise to me that she would exaggerate the amount of time she spent with Chucky before his rebirth.
