When Stallard made a wild guess and said, "Jane Eyre," he was amazed to find out he was right. Manchester was having a lot of fun. I love the way some students are utterly impassive regardless of whether they're right or wrong. On the other extreme, there are the teams who smile, chuckle, back-slap, and generally rejoice when they're right.

Speaking as a woman of a certain old age I am always thrilled if I get just one answer right - this time I managed 6 - time to celebrate!!!!

He used to have a full beard and hair on his head and hasn't got used to the new feel yet.

This episode is the first one I've ever watched. I've always heard that British quiz shows were harder than their American counterparts. As an American, I'm happy to say that I didn't do too badly when I played along, although the more specifically British the questions were, the worse I tended to do.....

Unfortunately, our state education system is becoming as dumbed down as yours, with the only way to get a good education is by paying through the nose!

Is it just me, or are the questions on Bach at 23:51 not all that - specialist - for want of a better word? I'm no student of Bach, but knew the answers just from reading stuff in general. Or maybe it is just me, at which point feel free to shoot me down in flames.

reading stuff in general? What "general stuff" would contain such information.....?
@Hadrianus0110 жыл бұрын
Hardly falls under the category of "general stuff" IMO. but ok maybe im juz dumb then

I was a pianist, violinist back in my school days and a chorister too (yes I wore the silly outfits) so I knew the answers too. But I would hardly expect anyone outside musical circles to know that much about JS Bach! Most of the maths/science questions on the show fly right over my head
@joeys1100010 жыл бұрын
I should have been more clear - by "general, I meant just books on music which made some reference to the Bachs, amongst other things. When I was growing up, I just read all kinds of books (showing my age here), and that stuff showed up. I agree about the science questions though, but I feel most of them are quite specific. Having said all that, many thanks for the feedback. It's nice to hear from other likers of this show!

Yes anyone with a bit of an interest in music might have known the answers or some of them. I knew the catalogue reference for example (BWV) and I could recall the name of one of his sons (though I didn't get the right one). Not all the questions have to be specialist questions. Some are just educated general knowledge.

What is it with young men who seem unable to keep their hands away from their face? Stallard is bloody annoying - can you not just put your arms on the desk!

A bit like young women who can't stop fiddling with their hair. In them bad ole days, one fiddled with a cigarette.
