You are not kidding that life goes by fast! I was a college student five minutes ago and now I'm in my 40s. Enjoy EVERY minute -- I wish I had done a study abroad program, as it's such a great opportunity at a very specific time of life. I'm sure you'll love it there before long (Bristol looks charming)!

@@MakaylaMacGregor Of course! I work for U of Chicago (as a writer for Chicago Booth Review) but live in New York, so I like to follow some Chicago students to get an idea of what life is really like on campus, etc. I enjoy your channel!

Welcome to the UK and Bristol 😊 A family friend from Canada did a year at Bristol uni and loved it. I hope you settle in and meet some great pals! The first pub you stopped at on your day trip is just 10 mins away from me- so weird to see! But great that you got a chance to explore a bit with your family.

@@MakaylaMacGregor really pleased to hear it! But speaking as a mum (🙄 sorry, can't help myself!) ...do please seek support from student services if you ever feel you (or anyone you know) need it. Have a fab time!

It's absolutely gorgeous! I think you'd love it a lot - there's a lot of people walking their dogs around here so I always get to see some cute pups on my way to class :)

I'm an American applying to Bristol for 2023! It looks lovely from your vlog, and I love that you don't have to have a roommate lol. What are you studying and what stats did you have to get an offer (if you don't mind sharing). Thanks!

Hi! I actually didn't have to apply to Bristol, per se; I submitted my application to UChicago (which went through one round of decisions) and then they "accepted" me and forwarded it to the University of Bristol. Probably the most important part of the application process for study abroad isn't what you're studying or any specific stats, but just as strong a GPA as you can get, and really thoughtful answers on your application (i.e. what you want to do abroad, how you foresee studying abroad will help you as a student) hope this helps a bit!!

My daughter is thinking of doing a semester at Bristol next year (we live in NH!). I was curious how you chose/ended up with your accommodations? Is that where you wanted to be and did you have an option to be closer? Thanks!

May I wish you a very belated, but nonetheless warm, welcome to England. You will be experiencing a bit of culture shock as most things are just slightly different from what you're used to. Don't panic! When in doubt, ask. You will find that we are mostly kind and helpful and very rarely bite! Enjoy every moment here and don't make the mistake of waiting for good weather to do something (if we did that we'd never go anywhere). Best wishes and have fun........................................the ancient Englishman.

Thank you so much! Haha, I’ve already learned that it’s not very prudent to hope for a day without any rain at all. And you’re definitely right, everyone here has been so kind! :)

Hi Makayla! Firstly, this is such a cute video!!! and I came across it the right time because I'll be studying in the University of Bristol this September. So currently I'm struggling to find accommodation and it's really difficult to find the right one especially when you're an international student moving to a country you've never visited before. So could you tell me which residence you moved in to? And how are you liking it so far?

I was in Sinclair House which is part of Manor Hall! Personally I loved it - the location was ideal because I was right in between campus and Clifton village. Plus Sinclair House was designated as a "quiet flat" so it was usually very peaceful there :) I will say that my room was very small haha but I really enjoyed my time there!
