Cymbal #6 in this video. Couple points of clarification: -- Opening cadence series is called "Taps and Rolloff". And yes, DC "kindly borrowed" it from us without mentioning it in the liner notes. :) -- Uni's are the Step Show version -- yellow shields were added for gameday performances. This cadence was marched except for a slight mod at the beginning. -- I think they changed to blue shells (and Zildjan cymbals) in 2005. -- Glad (some of you) enjoyed it. :)

@DBDP3 "Taps and Roll Off" pre dates the Destiny's child tune. This video was recorded in 2002. I was actually in the line in 2004 when Destiny's Child released the song. They sampled us (to this day I don't know if they had the composer's permission or not).

Impressive to this 36-year Masters of Music veteran, especially considering these kids are at a school with serious academic demands. Made my day. Thanks to whoever posted this!

My Band Director put together a Marching Band exhibition this year. And he asked Mr. Scott Boerma (director of Marching Bands at UofM) and the band to come and be a guest at our show. They came, and it was amazing! I was on the front sideline when they performed and they did it all. Then of course I had to scramble as they came off the field. Right at our band. Fun fact: My father was high school buddy's with Scott Boerma. My mother went to a camp where Boerma did his first conducting ever.

Funnily enough, it's the Destiny's Child who took the intro here and put it in their song...not the other way around. That's our "claim to fame" I guess.

This cadence was written 10 years ago by a man who is now working with a high school drumline. He was a member of the U of M drumline

2:50-2:58 That is corps-level writing and corps-level execution, certainly by the snares. Whoever heads/headed this program when this was filmed is/was worth their check. Nice job...

My formal musical career began in 1969, years before DCI was created and have followed the growth since it's infancy. I play and teach percussion, specifically the trap set,not just the snare. I've seen, judged and spoke with many DCI groups. I have a great "sense" of music AND drumlines. GO BLUE

i only like this school because they started it all. this is the first college marching band the united states has ever seen at a football game. and they gave the greatest marching bands after them. the HBCU marching bands. more specifically they gave us Florida A&M Universty marching 100
@TheZooCrew16 жыл бұрын
Yeah, dude...Blue Beats is right after taps and roll off, then it leads into Groove Juice when the snares start the little quiet ostinato, then Flex Permits when the timing gets a little wacky, finishing with Alumni Honor, which has the 'Sailor' part of Electric Wheelchair.

I'm pretty sure it's not called lose my breath. That was the song Beyonce stole this cadence for. There was a lawsuit about it a while back. But this was definitely written before that song came out. Unless they've changed it since then, but I highly doubt they have.

PRECISION, BABY! I marched with the Mighty Meeeechigan Marching Band, back in the '70s. The line wasn't that complex, but just as good. They play those cadences on the street not just while wowing the masses. I'd like to see one of you HS hater's lines come close. Ya'll couldn't because you usually play the same show all year. The Wolverines script a different show, each week. GO BLUE!
