I don’t think any place in the world does marching bands the way Americans do marching bands. It’s really quite amazing. In addition to the musicianship and the discipline it’s the sheer energy expended to produce the effect. Impressive.

I've watched those kids rehearse working hard in the hot August sun. For all that work they get to go to the games for free and get one college credit in the school of music. (A normal one hour three days a week class is three credits.)

I love the University of Wisconsin marching band! Their “stop at the top” marching style makes them very unique above all others!

I was in the marching band and Georgia Southern, years ago mind you, and I gotta say that this is fantastic. Thank you Badger Band for adding the GSU fight song into your pregame. It's really nice to see the sportsmanship between two bands, and that is some hard work that the band puts in. Learning a new piece of music and charts on top of that, kudos!

This is pregame not 1/2 time. This is a proud band

When I think of a "Marching Band", this is an excellent example of what I am thinking about. While I know that DCI (and similar groups) requires tremendous skill, talent, and effort; it is not what I like to see in a marching band (my taste - my opinion). I am curious to know, are the musicians who remained in the endzone Freshmen or "Injured reserve", or are they players who didn't "make the cut"?

They are “alternates” so they can get rotated into the block on a week to week basis, they just need more refining of the style and there’s only a certain number for pregame and halftime on the field for drill. They can typically show improvement throughout the season and have opportunities to march in rehearsals if those in the block are absent to further refine their marching skills.

Where is the feature baton twirler?? Does Wisconsin have no championship baton twirlers? 1 drum major but not one baton twirler.
@pmasco69 ай бұрын
Ever since the modern-era of the UW band (1969-now) the band doesn’t have front pom pom/baton twirlers. The band is the feature, the drum major does all baton twirling.

@@pmasco6 I'd love to see a close-up view of the drum major. It looks like he's doing some pretty impressive baton-twirling, & his entrance gave me goosebumps. Is there a vid of him closeup?

I was in a marching band in high school and college. I know the level of discipline and musicianship it take to do this. However, I’m not a fan of the double time marching. It’s hard to coordinate and it comes off as unorganized and sloppy.

I know there's a new band director, and things change with new leadership. That said, I see the marching style is...well...lets just say the marching style is not being performed by the entire band...like it used to be. Time brings about a change.

I was in my High School marching band back in the 70's. If I had to march like they are doing in this video, I would have told the music teacher, I will sit this one out. As first trumpet of our band not near a big as this one todays marching is just damn silly. Like a bunch of clowns on the field.
