this is our comprehensive room tour video of Eleanor Rosa House, an intercollegiate hall by University of London! we show you three of our rooms (standard en-suite, en-suite+ and large ensuite). all of us are staying at ERH for our first year of uni at KCL/UCL, which is located in Stratford, London (Zone 2/3). since there aren’t many videos of this accommodation as it has newly opened in 2019, we tried to be as comprehensive as possible and cover everything about the accommodation that we think will be useful to anyone wanting to live here!
we will also be doing a full Eleanor Rosa House + Stratford tour later :) comment if you’d like to see that video!

This vlog majorly convinced me to finalize Eleanor Rosa for my stay :) Love your rooms guys! If I may ask, is there a way through which I can increase my chances of getting a corner room (It's so beautiful I am obsessed!) by putting in a request or asking them to allocate a corner room that has just been moved out of? ( I know someone who is gonna move out a couple of days before I move in...tee hee...so sneaky :P ) Please let me know :)

Hey! The corner rooms are standard plus, so depending on what type of room you've been assigned you may or may not be able to get a corner room. I think as long as there are free corner rooms and you ask reception when you first arrive, you should be fine. That being said, if the rooms have already been assigned it may be difficult. I guess it comes down to how much demand there is? Either way, I hope you get the corner room of your dreams hahaha. Also, I'm glad you liked the video and thank you so much for the support!

Heyy love the videoo! Can you please tell how the flat system works? Like how many rooms per flat and How many girls share a kitchen? Alsooo can you please make a kitchen tour video and also the social spaces in the accommodation. Thankss
@4brokegirls635

Hey! glad you enjoyed the video. There are two types of flats due to the layout of the building and every flat has one shared kitchen (unless you have a studio). The two types are 6 rooms in one flat or 4 rooms in one flat. Of course, the kitchens are bigger for those who have 6 rooms. For example, there is only one fridge for the smaller flat whereas there are two in the bigger one. Unfortunately, most of us are not in Eleanor Rosa currently because of the pandemic. But we will surely make a video when we come back. Just in case we are unable to go back, I personally think it has some really nice social spaces. There's a study space, an observatory, and other nice features like a ping pong table and a pool table. It's a shame that we didn't use them as much this year... Hope this helped!

Thanks for the vid!! it was really informative and convinced me to opt for Eleanor Rosa (having hella issues with my school's accommodation😔). However could I ask if commuting to and fro UCL is gonna be a real problem? like not just for classes but also having to travel to zone 1 everyday for school activities and social events

Hey !! First of all the video is very insightful , loved it but I am just little bit concern about the fact that it is in the east side of London and things are bit skeptical in relation to safety as in east london does not have the best reputation in regards to safety as far as I have read , so what is your take on it , is travelling safe and sound specially at night . I just love this place but just thinking about this one thing, It will be very helpful if I can get a first hand experience from you girls.

Hey! The area IS thought to be more "dangerous". It was a concern of mine when I moved in as well. However, I don't think it is as bad as they make it out to be. Of course, you have to be careful at night, but that can apply to almost any part of London. During the day, I have personally felt quite safe whenever I have gone out, and at night you just have to make sure that you stay in the main street where it's slightly busier and well lit. The shopping centre and the subway are very close, so the amount of time you will actually spend on the streets is actually quite low. Also, my brother lived in that area for a year as well and didn't have any problems (although he is a guy so not all the same worries apply). Hope this helps :)

It took me around 2 weeks. I guess it depends on demand and all that. Personally, Eleanor Rosa was sort of also my "last choice" but they seemed to still have plenty of space when I moved in. Maybe it was because of the pandemic though. Either way, at least last year, there wasn't much demand for Eleanor Rosa because most people tend to apply for their own university's accommodation rather than UOL accommodation. I doubt you'll have any problems. Good luck!

no worries glad you enjoyed it! it is a mix of undergrads and postgrads with quite many postgrads choosing to stay there. honestly the social scene wasn’t the best in my opinion for the time that we were there. although the hall does host many different activities! coupled with covid restrictions it was really hard to see everyone. it would be a lot better if people did want to participate in events more and show up!! definitely depends on the people there right, so it may improve next year especially if covid restrictions are much looser

Thank you for the content! its really helpful~ Wanting to ask if there is postgrad students staying there (like if they are staying in a different floor or rooms are randomly assigned?) and how's the socialising situation? ^^
@4brokegirls635
@4brokegirls635 3 жыл бұрын
There are postgrads staying, however, I think they are a minority since they usually tend to go for private housing rather than dorms. The rooms are assigned randomly so your flat could get a mix of either, although the majority is undergraduate students. You could potentially ask them to change your room but depending on who you ask they could allow it or not. Honestly, unless you say something when you move in, the most likely scenario is that you will have to stay in the room you are first assigned. Socialising was alright. I can't give too much info. because I was there for just a few months and gatherings were banned. But overall I don't think you should have a problem. If you want people to go out with, you'll definitely find them. At least at the beginning of the year, few people know each other so everyone is in socializing mode hahaha. Well, hope that helped :)

Tbh it depends you have to be smart about we're you are so a more crowded area would be safer but at night on a street by yourself depending on how far you are from the main streets would be a gadge a thing about London is going about your business so move quickly and safely. In my opinion is a little bit far. It takes around 40 minutes to get there. You should definitely consider this if you are going to have to move from campus back to your accommodation frequently. @4brokegirls635
@4brokegirls635 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Yes and no. For the people not currently in the accommodation because they couldn't return after Christmas, there is a discount. However, this is only temporary and due to the restrictions on travel. Currently, and until around the end of April, I am paying 25 pounds/week just to keep my stuff in my dorm. However, this discount is removed at the end of April or whenever I decide to go back to the dorm. If you are living there, you don't get a discount as far as I know. Hope this helps :)

@4brokegirls635
@4brokegirls635 3 жыл бұрын
@@ishitabhatia6073 I'm not sure. I haven't heard anything about storing your stuff somewhere inside the building that is not your room. I guess the solution to this depends on your situation. You could potentially ask the accommodation to move in slightly earlier, with additional costs of course. The accommodation may allow you to store things inside the building, but I personally have never done it so I can't be of much help there sorry.

@4brokegirls635
@4brokegirls635 3 жыл бұрын
From what I know it is possible, but obviously depends on the rooms you and your friends chose. For example, Ines had a standard plus while I (Liren) had just a standard and we were in the same flat (sharing kitchen that is). So it is possible, the problem then is to maybe ask the staff to put you and your friend in the same flat if they can. Still, this doesn't necessarily mean that you will be put together.
