A tip I'd give to help with the weird smell in your room is to maybe get an automated air freshener! I think you can get them from Wilkinsons for a fairly good price and you can set them to spray every half hour/every hour depending on what you prefer. It was such a life saver for me in first year, and meant whenever I came back to my flat after lectures or something, my room would smell gorgeous. Good luck with your first year of uni!

I go to Leeds Beckett university (going into second year) and I remember my first few weeks were awful, I was really homesick and regretted going. However now I've spent all summer getting excited to go back for second year because Leeds is so great and it now feels like a second home ❤️❤️

Ive been to uni for a week now.. I'm feeling mixed about it, mostly because I didn't know anyone when I started, and everything is so big and new (I do still live at home, so that's helping a bit), but the course I'm studying I really like

I really recommend going to Rustica for lunch or dinner, its opposite the Parkinson steps in the uni! Or coffee rand is an amazing cafe!! I went there all the time last year and was blessed, lots of art students go xxxx

The reed diffuser works better if you turn the sticks everyday- its a good tip for bad smells at uni haha!

A tip for the room situation smell. If you have a pets at home or just on amazon get the odor kill candles.. you probably aren’t allowed candles but if your in the room monitoring it, should be alright plus it doesn’t leave marks on the ceiling it’s amazing!! It was meant for pet smells but is also brilliant with cigarette type smells etc

Molly quick tip, take the diffuser out of the window it will dry it up miles quicker than usual and that’s why it’s not working as well as it should be x x

I just moved into my second year room and I’ve had the same problem - someone was sneakily smoking in my room too😭 I left the window open for a week, and I got one of those plug in air fresheners and it’s really helped xx

For the toilet constantly making a flushing noise, this is something that the maintenance people can easily fix if you let them know! I had a similar issue a couple of years ago and it just turned out to be a loose part or something xx

Yeah, I study in Leeds too, at uni of and there's no point bringing your car to uni (2nd year you could though when you move out of halls), it's expensive to park here

If the toilet flush is one of the ones where you push the button at the top when you flush it lightly press it sometimes it can get stuck mine does it I just give it a little wiggle and push it a little and it stops it did it when I use to have the proper flush coming off the side of the toilet (I’m not even sure these exists anymore) but if it’s one of them do the same Just wiggle it a little. I hope this works. Let us know if you see this and try it! XXX
