7:00 John, I’m reluctant to tell an expert how to do something but… You have one bolt in. Turn the seat on it’s side so that the fastened bolt is on the table, 13:59 gravity will work more in your favor. Been there, done that. I credit you and your channel for helping me resurrect my late brother-in-law’s 79 roadster. 🙏🏻

I think this is my favorite John Twist video. From the introduction about his struggles with the transmission mount all the way to the struggles with the seat. But the icing on the cake was customer imitation! Ha ha ha! I feel like John Twist is now a friend of mine.

Yep, already broke a couple of those seat recline levers on my Midget. Didn't want to remove the seat cover, so just grabbed adjuster shaft with some vise grips and worked them back and forth until they moved easier. Glad to see your videos again.

I had to laugh about the comment of not being able to get big hands in small places on LBC. When working on 1970s Japanese cars, I had to repeatedly ask my youngest sister to reach in/down/over/through to put a wrench/socket on a bolt. Later she had to put the bolt back in and put the wrench/socket on the bolt. The other problem was a lot of sharp sheet metal under the hood.

Cracked off a seat rake last year. A pair of needle nosed vice grips is now a substitute. Was not pleasant on the hand but no cut thankfully. My seats have never been stripped down. Finding a replacement handle is my next purchase!

I agree that gearbox mount is a devil. Like you I finally gave up and enlisted my son with thinner fingers to get those nuts on. I even had to bend a small spanner to get it done. One of the worst jobs on the B. I hope I never have to do it again.

I have done enough engine swaps to know that a 70+ years old shouldn’t be doing engine swaps. The overdrive sitting in the corner has been reminding me about crossmembers for over two years. Now that I have gotten rid of the Stromberg and replaced it with two very nice SUs (not a Webber) the overdrive is next on the list. And yes I just might ask one of my nimble finger children for help. After all it will belong to them eventually.

Phillips screws date to about the 1930s, and MGAs use Pozidrive. 🤓
