Welcome back class! For our lesson today we will be going over some examples of tactics to use if you want to employ the strategy of Hand Control in Universus! Whether you want to completely rip your rivals hand apart, or constantly disrupt their strategies through controlled chaos, you'll be sure to leave your rival tearing their hair out, because what else will they do with those empty hands?

Appreciate this. I've been playing Universus on and off for some time, but I don't necessarily play it at the level I'd like. Botan was a hero a messed with during the original YuYu set. This definitely makea me want to revisit l her.

She definitely still has legs, even after Mop Strike got banned, and she will only get crazier as better throws and discard cards are printed on her symbols!

As always, thank you !! This is so helpful for understanding the game better, what archetype are available and how to build them ! Botan seems to be a nightmare to face : blocks are hard and she's constantly healing herself ! Seems really fun ! Talking about hand disruption, do you have any advice on how many cards you should keep in hand at all times ? I'm sure it really depends on our character but as a guideline, do you consider keeping 2 cards is enough to stay alive until next turn or should we keep more ? I'm an aggressive player at heart and I tend to empty my hand almost each turn : I want to draw more cards, I want the attacks to land fast and hard ! I have to restrain myself but how much should I ?

For me it depends on my opponent. If my opponent is playing aggressively, and depending on what defensive resources/draw I have in my stage, along with whatever my current health is, I may hold about 3 cards to block with. If I have most of my health and I don’t think my rival can kill me on their next turn I’m not afraid to take a few hits on the chin if it means I can swing back harder on my next turn. That’s why cards like Cape of No Return and Condescending Explanation are so good, they can get rid of an offensive threat so you don’t have to block.
