Bless you. Back in the Dominican there is an attitude against morenos and negros. The focus is always lighter skin and straighter hair. Im almost thirty and already a father and just now am I learning to care for my hair. I recently got the pattern brush and was finally able to detangle my hair for the first time in my life only one month ago. I will be incorporating your lessons on twisting and oiling so that my hair can tangle less. Despite always knowing our hair shrinks as it dries I never made the conclusion that the fast shrinking (really it's fast curling) is what actually causes that tangling. Again all I can say is bless you.

Thank you for your feedback. It’s really sad that they have this mentality in the DR. 😩 I’m very happy that my videos are helpful to you and you can incorporate my tips into you hair care regimen. It’s very important to have that knowledge and transfer it to our children. 😊 Thank you again ! Bless you too !

The second process was definitely common in Saint Lucia growing up. My mom did it every wash day on my hair, we also called it twists or flat twists. I still do them every wash day it’s such an easy process for stretching and helping the hair dry.

I kinda use the same method. I section my hair in 4-5(I also do the nape of neck)..I do loose Bantu knots and instead of Bobby pins..I use satin hair tires. In turn, I can get loose or tighter curls depending on how tight I turn the Bantu. Great vid.

@@UnivHairSoleil3 Have a great day ☀️Satin hair ties can be hard to gin or expensive. I get mine from Temu! Minimum amount to order is $10..but the ties are like 5 for $2.99! You will have a back-up supply for a long time! It takes around 7-10 days to arrive.

Thanks for sharing. I'm wondering once you take the flat twists down and style your hair. Do you put them back in before going to bed? Do you continue to use the flat twists each evening as a method to keep hair stretched until your next shampoo?
@UnivHairSoleil3
@UnivHairSoleil3 Жыл бұрын
You're welcome ! I used to put them back every night actually but I no longer do that. Sometimes I just keep the hairstyle for a few days. If I need to remove the hairstyle, I would do twists instead. Now I mainly do flat twists every night if my hair is blowdried or straightened.

@@UnivHairSoleil3 Thank you I never thought to try flat buns as a stretching method. I have really long thick 4c hair, and figured I'd give it a try. Still I workout multiple times a week, and didn't know if that might be an issue. So far doing this has worked wonders. I gua sha every evening before moisturising. Then do 5 of these twists, because I also make bangs in the front. It works to keep my hair stretched well for the next day. I'm ecstatic I came across your video. I'd usually be doing my gua sha with twists or braids. Which still works, but it feels great to be able to use my gua sha comb all over my scalp daily. Thanks again.

@iamana6295 do you not detangle prior to your wash? 😮
@iamana6295
@iamana6295 7 ай бұрын
@@YeaNo. no and I haven’t been detangling in the shower either lately now that I’m thinking of it. I just take the braids down, wash, then detangle and do the next style…but I was able to do the 20 twists then take them out, brush the curls out, and create 6 big twists once the wet hair dried to create a more stretched look
@YeaNo.
@YeaNo. 7 ай бұрын
@iamana6295 try detangling your hair dry with a non comedogenic oil like amla or grape seed oil. I know it sounds bad, but your hair is strongest dry. I never lose hair im just removing shed hair. The issue with doing the detangling last is you've gone through the shampoo step with stripped your hair and the condition with expanded it. And you've possibly caused more tangles from those two steps. 😊
