Hey I know this comment is a little old but oh my gosh yes to unmotivating teachers and schools. When I was at school I was never really helped and encouraged because I wasnt the brightest nor was I the poorest so I got overlooked a lot. I'm now currently training to be a teacher myself and oh my gosh it's like a different world now. I'm realising why we have to learn all these subjects and the point to them and the history behind the subjects, I know it sounds really geeky to say but its fascinating to learn and I'm actually developing my own understanding of different subjects. Universty has opened a new door to me and although it's hard I find the majority of teachers more motivating and helpful and no one gets overlooked.

I took chemistry A level and never got higher than an E in any mock test. It’s so hard!! But I pushed through and found as many resources as I could, attended every revision session available, and I came out with a C in the real exam! I have never, ever been more proud of myself.

I teared up watching this video because finally someone understands how it feels, I think my issue is I've always been labelled as an academic and when I struggle it makes me doubt myself and my capabilities, these feelings have been always with me but finally I was able to talk about them. I recently got my classics paper back with a grade that I was disappointed by and felt so deflated and frustrated because I have a teacher who never clearly helps but he is the only teacher in the department which makes me feel even more isolated. I've decided to perhaps find a tutor but Jade honestly I'm so grateful that you've shown me that sometimes things don't always come as naturally and that's alright as long as you still keep working at it, THANK YOU! ❤️

This really helped motivate me. I've been not feeling the revision all day and I've been sitting with a whole empty workbook of biology questions just not wanting to start. This video really showed me how far I've come and how I can't give up with only 2 months to go. I got a 4 in my first biology test and now I'm getting good, strong 7's. Just 1 more month of work and I know I can get an 8!

@@amazingf1238 I download the specification and make notes using that for each unit, then I'll turn them into flashcards on quizlet and learn them, then I'll just do questions! I use to just make notes and read them but it didn't really help me, if you're in y11 now I'd skip the notes and just do flashcards and questions (and go through the spec and tick off stuff you fully understand). If you're not a fan of quizlet or prefer physical cards CGP do some really useful ones for science with questions and explained answers on!

Sarah Stubbs This is so weird for me to read! Sorry if I sound rude, but I’m Italian and I’ve just discovered how our study methods are so different! It’s kinda interesting too lol When we study we mainly highlight the book and maybe make notes. After that, we start reading everything again aloud, many times, to fully memorise it. I think that it’s this different because we have different exams. I read that in England/ America you have written tests, while we have to speak and like create speeches. Sorry if I wrote too much!! I always watch Jade’s videos to practice my English and because I love her, but also because it’s so cool to see what school life is like in other places. I notice what we could improve and things like that😊 Anyway sorry if I barged in and good luck for your subject, I know you can do it!!!

It is amazing how you had chemistry in your A-levels. I had it too. But I gave up. And i tend to give up when I get bad grades. I lose motivation. But the way you motivated yourself to not give up! And you got such a good grade in that subject! I actually had a private tutoring. But my grades didn't get much better even though I understood it when I learned with my tutor. Chemistry was a disaster for me especially year 11 and 12. In year 10 I was good. But then it went downhill. It was definitive one of the subjects I most regretted ever picking in my graduation finals. Thank you for THESE VIDEOS! Because your motivation is so inspiring!!! I think this video would be very helpful for a lot of people in a certain kind of struggle with school, and I totally agree that sometimes when we feel like giving up, the best thing for us is actually to persevere through the hard bits. But as someone who struggled A LOT with school and had my fair share of desperation cries too, I know that dropping (or postponing) some subjects was my ONLY option in some instances. Sometimes you just can't do everything you signed up to do, and if you notice every other subject suffering and most importantly, if your mental health/sleep/personal life is in shambles - pushing yourself can be really dangerous! I don't know the UK school system very well, but I'm sure there are some form of second chances at GCSEs/A-levels available? There is no shame in not being able to cope with the immense pressure put on us in school, and so many young people suffer from mental illnesses or may have adhd or other diagnoses that make it so much harder. I know you're a great advocate for mental health Jade, so I think this video could have been balanced with a mention that, in some cases, you have to let go if something is causing you a lot of harm, and constant hustling to the detriment of your health is not the answer.

What the heck Jade!!! I literally had to stop my after school revision session because I couldn't think straight and everytime I opened my mouth to answer the teacher I would burst into tears. My teacher told me to take a break when I got home and sitting watching KZbin, your video pops up on my screen. Thank you so much!! Perfect timing! 💙

TheSilverSwan I know it’s all personal experiences, biology content is easier but getting marks in exams is harder, that’s what I mean.

Hit the nail on the head with this video for me Jade! I had the worst breakdowns when I was doing technical/advanced maths earlier this year, so at the very last moment I did decide to switch to more basic math. I know it goes a little bit against the message of this video, and It was sad, but also necessary for my mental health, and I don't regret it. I would say though if I were able to go back in time I would've told my homework defying self everything you said in this video! Though this advice isn't coming too late for me- still struggling with physics, chemistry and Greek.. On a less whiny note, you remind me to be grateful for my education and why to take it seriously and work for it. The nature of the Dutch school system has kind of already assured me of an A-level diploma (I know it sounds strange) the advantage is that I'm not stressing about my grades as much because I really just need to pass and it won't affect university choices at all-which at the same time means that I have one less reason to be motivated of care about the grade. But as I said, I'm just starting to realise how important it is to care! On a completely different note, your challenge really helped and I get up 30 minutes earlier since last Monday? How did that happen? I must say I'm not reeaally being productive but it's nice the hobble around in a quit house and feeling ahead of everyone for some reason lol 😂 Also can I just be completely irrelevant and say you look amazing in this video your hair is just 👌👌but I'm 100% sure you're even more beautiful on the inside haha 🤗

I feel really sad that I am out of school and university now and don't get that chance back to really dive into studying with joy and motivation. I passed every exam but it was with so so much anxiety and self-hatred. Was it only in my school that you would feel so horribly pressured to do well that you could never match the expectations? No one - not my parents nor my teachers - ever taught us HOW to study, how to stay on top of the work, how to thrive in what you're good at and how to work hard on those subjects that you're not good at. The common sense was that when you can't do well academically, you lose huge chunks of your worth. I also had to deal with PTSD during my last school years so that was an extra internal blockade... but also I was so afraid to turn out to be stupid that I didn't give it a real try. I had no idea of self-management, of organization or how to set little goals that give me a feeling of achievement. I was all just way too much to handle, I didn't know where to start and I had no idea how people were doing it. I wish we could all just take the element of shame out the equation and educate ourselves better about studying methods. Especially for girls and young women it would be so amazing to feel accomplished by gaining knowledge, training our intelligence and learning to reflect on things (instead of being eternally insecure because of our looks etc).

A big part of today wasn't good at all, I was feeling so down, gloomy and miserable, all because of university stress and the first thing I saw when I went on KZbin was one of your videos that you talked about being unmotivated and feeling low, and I just want to thank you so much for making this topic a common thing, and thank you for helping me and many others around the world. Thank you so much Jade, you're a gem❤️❤️
