One of my "systems" for socialisation is saying yes to invitations (unless I really don't want to go/too tired) even when I have a pile of studying to do and work the next day! At the end of it, people really should be the priority; they're what we will remember fondly at the end of our lives, not how much studying we did! Keeping in touch with people and socialising regularly is hard for me as I'm an introvert. I often really don't feel like it but I say to myself "just go for an hour" and I usually end up having a good time and staying longer! I also really avoid touching my phone when I'm with people, as much out of respect for their presence as being in the moment.

As an introvert, I am a bit curious whether you do feel good being in a group of people. Don't you feel tired after interacting with lots of people?

My notes on the video :) 1. Academic system - Sunday planning (look at deadlines, plan out reading, look at monthly and weekly goals) - mandatory minimum (estimate of minimum time to get something done well) - underestimation - location (where do I go to do reading) - vagueness = friction (plan location and timing) - motivation (solution: choice architecture. Make studying the easy option.) - start every study session with a pomodoro (25 mins, one task)

As someone who struggles so much to find time for my friends. What we did over lockdown is every week get together on a zoom call and just talked, for an hour. I would schedule it into the week and each week we would do something during said call, like playing online cards against humanity. Or even now with uni friends. I make sure to oragsnise things with my friends, and then when a little time is free spontaneously we do something!

As a busy senior high student studying International AS and A Level, I also feel both unmotivated and bored when I am at home, so I have to find and head to other suitable places, like library and cafe, to study productively and create more motivations. Thanks for your amazing tips to boost my efficancy and improve my workflows.
@ariahauser42242 жыл бұрын
On the topic of maintaining relationships, I found that for me, though this is influenced by my international move a few years ago, it is best to have set weekly times to spend with friends. Having those weekly calls, though if I could see my old friends and boyfriend in person then we would do that instead, really helps. And since it is the same time every week if is easier to keep the time free. On top of that, I do text randomly with my friends. So in answer to your question, i think having a scheduled and regular baseline is essential, and then the rest can be spontaneous.

I love your videos and I rarely comment, I’m so sorry, I’m usually too shy to do that, but I highly enjoy your videos. But this time I have to give my two cents, not in order to criticise, but to bring awareness to something that people may not be aware of. I gave up working as a freelancer for platforms fiverr and upwork because it was so stressful always delivering your best and fastest work at the lowest price possible, and at the same time having to compete with so many other freelancers living in countries that are able to offer much lower prices… I have to say it was soul-crushing and i was living with constant existential anxiety. It was very difficult trying to establish myself as a new freelancer, as, as we saw in your example, clients will often want to take on people with hundreds of five-star reviews. I understand that for people-pleasers it is very important to learn the skill of negotiation, but in this case I think it would be kinder to then tip the freelancer those $20 afterwards. I’m so sorry to be so negative, but I’m so passionate about freelancers getting paid fairly. And that’s not just a problem on those platforms. Much love, Anna

How I systematized social relationships a little bit more: over the day (sometimes 2-3 days) - if I don't have the time or energy to reply directly - I put the chat on unread and into the archive on WhatsApp. This way, I always see how many people I didn't reply to. Also, I don't forget to answer and it keeps the friction low of having to search for an "unread" chat below. I still need to systematize other parts of my life though :) your tips are very helpful!! Thank you for this content! :)

Also, I learned about Pomodoro from previous videos of yours and it's been an absolute game-changer for me! Location is my biggest motivator but I don’t have a place to work outside my house. Because of covid local libraries are only allowing people in the library for 1 hour. I normally spend my whole day there so right now I am bound to my house. I would go to school and work but my school is a ways away and the time and money spent travelling is not worth it. And cafes are somewhere I cannot work, too loud. So I hope in the fall, that I can improve my location, I hope to go back to school in person. My solution to working at home is to find different areas of my house to work, I have a desk, I go to the kitchen/dining room table, the couch, or my bed. This works most times, just to change things up a bit.

You truly are an inspiration Jade, another great video. Concerning the social systems I beleive they should be a baseline and the rest can be spontaniety. I think it important to be intentional about our actions. My best friend lives in Portugal and we call once a week and then send messages throughout the week. We have been doing this for a while now, and have been best friends for nearly 10 years. Hopefully I can see her in person soon ,when all the restrictions finally end.

Can you do another video on notion? I absolutely love your templates!!! I know you have already posted a tutorial but maybe you could do an updated one with your new systems? to go deeper on the negotiating, women are found to "negotiate less" bc there are often more consequences for negotiating. more likely to have offers rescinded or even fired. it's the retaliation that is the deterrent for women.

such a really useful video, especially right now since it is exam season for me. During this period of studying, being at home etc it can be really easy to get distracted as you said. For this reason, i really like to use the Forest app which I think you've already heard of it. it is similar to the pomodoro technique but you actually plant a tree whilst studying. so, while you are studying, you are also helping the environment. how cool is that?!?! have a good day.

Relating to social systems, when I am far away from friends I am really bad at texting and calling. So, intead of forcing myself to communicate in ways I am bad at, I write the letters and post cards because it is easier for me to feel motivated. Writing to my friends is almost a form of journaling for me, except I also get to hear how they are doing and send them gifts or photos.
