My eyes started welling up when her mum said that. It really gives u frame of reference. The difference in the ways we think about food vs when we fear food for control of our body. she feels so out of control but it’s cus she has been so severely restricted for so long. Her body finally tasted food and realized it was safe to eat. But in her head she is having genuine anxiety over not being full cuz it means giving up control of calorie counts. Also relearning hunger cues is so complicated. U literally have to regrow a connection from brain to stomach to know if ur hungry or full, as a result of ignoring hunger.her mum cares so genuinely and it’s so sweet listening to her sheer from the sidelines every meal.

“I just need to let my body gain the weight it wants to gain” When I heard this my brain kind of exploded. I’ve been gaining weight ever since a few days ago when I started to eat intuitively and without calorie/macro tracking. It was really getting to my head and I’ve been looking at my body really negatively, but when you said this I felt so much better. I realized, my body WANTS to gain this weight. I know it’s healthy for me to GAIN because I’m not even trying hard to eat too much/eat unhealthy. *This is weight that my body wants.*

One thing my psychiatrist told me that really keeps me going in my recovery is “Calories on food only tell you how much energy it releases when burned. Your body doesn’t absorb calories the way a lab measures them. That’s why you need to trust your body to tell you when it needs more fuel.”
@vals023
@vals023 Жыл бұрын
I'd never thougth of it that way, also it reminds me to a sentence from a video of zoeunlimited, "the calories on a nutricinal label only specifies how much the food contains, not how much your body will actually takes" , i didn't get it at first, but it makes so much sense now, thank you so much fr, this are the kinda stuff i need to keep myself going through

I don’t and have never suffered with an ED, but I have been attempting to lose weight off and on for quite a few years now. I like to watch your videos to remind myself that, even though I’m trying to eat healthier, I shouldn’t make myself feel guilty for eating certain things and that I should stop seeing food as “bad” or “good”. Before when I would order a takeaway or have a “cheat” meal as a break from my diet I would purposely try to eat less calories for the rest of the day to make up for it, but you are teaching me to just enjoy the “cheat” meal without feeling the need to compensate for it or be overly obsessive about the calories. I just wanted to comment to let you know that, even though your content is helping so many people that do struggle with EDs (which is great!), it is also helping in other aspects of diet culture as well! Keep up the good work 💜

Girl, getting rid of that mentality of counting calories is the hardest thing ever. What's worse is that your mind remembers the numbers so even if you don't really count the precise amounts and stuff, in your head that calculator is still going. Every video of yours is inspiring but this one (pun slightly intended) takes the cake. I had a solid 5 years of anorexia "recovery" where I accepted weight restoration and maintained a "normal" life but held onto that safety net in the back of my head where numbers crunched tirelessly just to make sure I remain "in control" or punish myself if I go too far. I finally looked it in the face (with a new therapist and medication) and am still amazed today at how differently I function in the world without half my brain function going into calculating. My self-esteem, mental and psychological function, and, yes, even health and weight are far healthier and more stable today than they were with those numbers. Good on you for challenging yourself to take your FULL life back from the start.

You're literally glowing!! Over the past year i've honestly been fooling myself into thinking that ive recovered when in reality I just mainly stick to foods that I know are "healthy" even though I don't count calories..I hope one day I too can motivate myself to stop holding back and just enjoy eating stuff I know are higher in calories🙃 + I LOVE your earrings they're gorgeous !!!!

Even in recovery it’s so hard to not count calories, I literally always count them and say I’ll eat whatever I want and however much I want but I still track it and idk why. Like I eat the food I want but I always measure stuff exactly and idk- that was a weird thing to say but anyway I love your vids 💗

You are so brave! I am in recovery and I have made amazing progress BUT I haven't yet been able to challenge stop counting my calories. I definitely have a healthier relationship with counting calories and I use it as a helpful tool and not to restrict anymore but it absolutely terrifies me to stop. So seriously well done you I can't even begin to imagine how hard that must of been for you. I'm so proud of you 🥺💖

I am not fighting anorexia but an anxiety disorder with the tendency to controll everything and in moving forward with therapy I have definitely come across that feeling of loosing a part of yourself. The disorderd part of your brain is clinging to its existence, especially when you fight against it. But we can do it. Keep going Ro

something that helped me decide if i was still hungry was “if my brain is confused then it means i’m hungry” your brain is telling you you’re still hungry but ur ed voice is confusing it by saying you’re not. the more u honor the hunger the quicker those voices will disappear and you’ll be able to see if you’re hungry or not without the confusing !! lots of love xx

I know this is an old video, but I just wanted to say that I’m glad you are the hot crossed buns. Actually, I’m surprised to say that I’m kind of jealous! I’m an American and have heard of them because of the song, but I didn’t know they were a real thing! You said you didn’t want to miss out on another Easter, and it just made me think about how good is tied to so many traditions and memories. The taste of food helps us live in the moment, and denying yourself food would be like denying yourself the ability to see or hear. You aren’t fully living in the moment unless you’re using all your senses. Anyway, just had that epiphany. Thank you for making these videos, they’re so helpful.

Hi Ro. I've never had an ED, but I have struggled over the years with disordered eating such as binging and elements of orthorexia while working in the fitness industry. I am now studying nutrition and dietetics and I began following your channel because I wanted to understand more about eating disorders and the thinking behind it. But honestly I now just watch to see you succeeding and living your best life. It brings tears to my eyes seeing you face your challenges and win. You are an inspiration and I am so proud of you. Plus your mum in the background with her firm by loving support makes me laugh. Keep loving yourself and remember you deserve this space on earth. I look forward to watching your future progress and seeing you having the life you dream of. Sending love and light from Australia 🌏☮🌞🌿💕🦜⭐🧡
