But why error out when no audio device is detected? I do programming and there should had been some code that prevented the game from erroring out. (Technical stuff: The "some code" is called exception handling. Usually games crash because of errors called exceptions. In this case, the code related to the audio system in rdr2 failed to detect any audio device and threw an exception. Rdr2 errors out because of a unhanddled exception. There should have been code that handled the exception which would prevent the error and make the game continue to launch.)

No one really know the actual fix for ffff ,but its work for me If you're not believe me then unplug your speaker then restart the game,the error pops up U don't have to download 10gb file fixer or anything,the actual problem is very simple..sometimes it will be the malfunction of your system

Bro the crash also happens to me...the game was properly work until i run the benchmark test within the game. It usually happens when we use the system for a long time Try to clean the gpu ..it fixes for me

@@cristianfuentes69 its mostly fixed for me, i had it happen twice today and it was whem i opened my wilderness camp. ive been playing for almost 12 hours with only two crashes. make sure your drivers are up to date, un install rockstar launcher and re download that can help too ive done those plus delete and re download red dead its self. maybe thatll help you, but its the game., not your PC and or console

Bro actually no one know the solution for ffff error. mine was actually different, i brought a pc and i installed the game ( fitgirl repack) took more than five hours to install..at that time i doesn't have a speaker then the fff error pops up..when i install the speaker the problem solved

I fixed the FFFFFF error code differently: Delete the "update.rpf" and Rename "update.rpf_" to "update.rpf" Hope it helps!!

@@thecommenter6672 yeah...I already had audio device plugged in and i tried around connecting and disconnecting external headphones and Bluetooth speakers too...none worked for me ...then i tried out some fixes found online and it didn't help either..so i even planned to uninstall and download from other cracking sites...then i was just surfing through the game files before uninstalling and found two files..."update.rpf" and "update.rpf_" . So i just grew suspicious and renamed update.rpf_ to update.rpf...since two files could not have same filenames i deleted the original one(you can cut paste somewhere else...or rename to some other thing)... It worked !!!! Game loaded✨

so i plugged in my microphone that i usually only use for streaming and it seemed to work, i could at least play longer than 1-2 hours wich is good, before that my game didnt even run 20minutes without crashing, but then when i closed red dead and played it on the next day, it crashed again, and 99% of the time happens to me when i use wildenerness camp and Deadeye and when i dont use both of them, it crashes anyway when i do a fast travel oder loot corpses. Rockstar really need to get their fucking shit together honestly, how they threat RDR2 just makes them not deserve even 1 player. its ridiclious, this game has horrible performance, crash and launch issues since fucking release, even the "infinite loading screen bug" when u start a bootlegger or story missions is STILL IN THE FUCKING GAME AFTER HALF A FUCKING YEAR.
