I must have seen this film more than 500 times since 1975 when I was in std 7th. I saw this movie in a Hall called rupbani in allahabad.the film was first run in another Hall and after 6months it was shifted to another Hall at reduced rates. My mother showed me this movie after my final exams of std 7th got over. I can't get over the class of this movie and acting especially of big b and nirupan ji. If someone asked me my list of 1 to 10 movies I would say 1 to 10 only deewar and from 11 th onwards others,

Yah.. you did a wonderful job.. I would like to take myself to my childhood when this film was released in my small town in the then AP.. I was studying my 9th class then and a great fan of NTR.. It was my habit to go round the streets nearer to a movie talkies by name Krishna Talkies that was very close to my residence, just to see any new cine-poster pasted on the walls. I was literally astonished to see Amitabh's picture in the poster of Deewar.. I made it a habit to go as many number of times as I could, just to see the picture of Amitabh on the wall.. That was it though I could not have the opportunity of watching the movie that time.. Till now my fanatism towards Deewar and Amitabh cotinues... And my strong opinion is that this particular movie can never be compared with any other movie.. simply fantastic..

Rajesh Khanna was actually supposed to play Shashi Kapoor's role. Because after the success of Anand and Namak Haram, every film maker wanted to cast Rajesh Khanna and Big B together. It was the time when Big B's stardom and Rajesh Khanna's fall down started. Rajesh Khanna insisted Yash Chopra to give him Vijay's role but Chopra refused so he opted out himself.
