Hi Bas @HowtoPowerBI, Love the content. I've got a similar question that I just can't get right in Power BI, similar to this baseline use-case. Let's say I want to reference my KPI's (or KPI values) to a certain reference period. So for instance, between january 1st 2022 and march 31rd 2022 (Q1 2022), this was let's say a *golden* period, which is like the benchmark period. How do I create a structure (table and measures) in Power BI, that compares a user data-input selection (for instance Q2 2023, but also Q1 2021) to compare with the reference period selection. E.G.: Q1 2022 (reference period): Sales amount = €1.000.000 Q2 2023 (user selected period): Sales amount = €1.120.000 (+ 12% ) I would then want to display the difference in certain metric KPI's between the reference period and the user selected period. Is this possible?

This seems like a good forum to ask this question if it ever gets seen. I'm looking to create a button on Power BI that looks like it is being pressed down. I've figured out as far as using shadows to create a raised feel to the button but I'm struggling to make it such that when the shadow disappears upon hover or upon press it looks as though the button has moved to being in a pressed down position. Anyone have any idea how to do this? The problem I'm currently running into is that when I remove the shadow, the button simply reverts to the normal flat shape when I really want it to keep its same shape but move down (or deeper into the page if that makes sense) without a shadow.

Great job. I believe that could be even extended with calculation groups so the user can always check the specific aggregation as plain average is not always wanted. I was thinking about something like this just recently, you read my mind.

Thank you for this video ! My customer asked me to do something similar, and i used the disconnected dimension technique, but the main problem is that he doesn't want to have 2 separated dimension for the same attribute (ex : channel name) but to have two different attributes named channel name x and channel name y into the same dimension table. If you have a solution to that, it's could be great. Thank you for your great work !

I'd like to inquire about a method to add an image to a table visual sourced from either an Excel file or a SharePoint site. I need this image to dynamically change based on filter selections. However, the crucial requirement is that the image should appear in a round shape rather than the default square shape. Currently, when I add the image using its URL, it displays in a square shape. Any guidance on achieving a round-shaped image in the table visual would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This is great! How would you modify the baseline slicer to exclude any selections from the visualization slicer? For example, the way I could use this is a comparative to a target and I wouldn’t want the target for change (checked item or items in the visual slicer) included in the baseline comparative data. I guess you could also just add in a context tab or in the tutorial for using the report, but it would be cool to have it “error proof” and a little pop up if hovering explaining why you can or can’t select certain slicers. Great tutorial as always!

Can this method still apply if we want to give users the ability to select different fields for the baseline - for example, if they want to compare results from a promotion to a baseline of total product category, or total product business unit etc?
@marekklucka4407 Жыл бұрын
That would require a little bit more of magic, but can be achievable. I believe that instead of distinctvalue in the table you can actually use then field parameters. Or you can always use good ol' SWITCH magic with disconnected tables, but that would be a lot maintenance heavy.
