💻💻 I purchased this Synology DS120j to replace the WD My Home Cloud 4TB NAS, that I was foolish enough to buy, awful. I just wanted a value, budget NAS (network Attached Storage) that I could get on the network, back up my files easily from the 2 PC's we have, and view from them from anywhere in the world. My photos and videos are priceless, and I want to protect them in case of hardware failure.
Easy enough to setup and connect, works perfectly and at a good budget.

Thanks for the useful video. I also have a my cloud which used to work fine as the WD software allowed me to acces the drive globally as a local drive. Now that they have discontinued this service the WD my cloud is absolutely useless to me... I am wondering two things. 1. Do you think I can also just swap the hard drive without formatting? This would save me a lot of time since I have about 1TB of data on that drive. 2. Can I acces the synology NAS as a local drive from anywhere in the world? I find that this is the most convenient way of working so I am looking for a way to create a similar setup as to the one I had when the WD software was still running.

Yes to the second question, but I'm pretty sure it's no to the first. I formatted drive when I swapped it out from the WD and did a new copy of the PC, took a couple of days for the first one if I remember correctly (over Wi-Fi)

@@CloughReviews Thanks for your answer! I am currently cleaning my whole pc up and strongly considering swapping to the Synology setup. But to save time i might just buy a 4TB SSD disk for in the Synology...
