I'm a happy owner of a Super Kraken, which I picked over the original Kraken mainly because it had a clean channel and the Kraken didn't. Between the added clean channel and the presence knob, this almost seems to address things I would have wanted in the Kraken. My only gripe with what they did in this version (if I'm understanding Rabea's explanation correctly) is how the presence knob works. To me, having a presence knob that starts off at the Kraken's original voicing seems to defeat the purpose that I think some players may have had in mind when they asked for a presence knob. Because I don't know about anyone else who owns one of these amps, but I occasionally find myself wishing I could dial out that hint of metallic-ness in the highs that my amp's high gain mode has, and I'm guessing other people would have liked a presence knob for the purpose of doing just that. Because as it stands, my Super Kraken's high gain channel sounds pretty close to what I always WISHED a 5150 sounded like: pretty much the same, but without that extreme hairy quality that just couldn't be dialed out on a 5150 I tried years ago. The Super Kraken tones that down significantly compared to the 5150 in my opinion, which I view as a good thing. And with the presence knob as Rabea described it, I think players who like that hairiness may be able to dial some of it in. I just wish it also gave the ability to dial it down even further than the original Kraken and Super Kraken. because that might take care of the one tonal quality of these amps that I'm not that keen on (those slightly metallic highs).

Sounds great and am considering getting one after getting back to tubes from modelling. It sounds quite noisy, I can’t remember my tube amps in the past sounding this noisy. I assume he isn’t using a noise gate. Edit, got one and it isn’t noisy, gain 2 has a bit but not more than you would expect from a tube amp.

Does anyone know if he's using the VH212 -VG or VH212- VH cabinets paired with the new Kraken VX MKII ?

Could they build one footswitch for this model instead of using two

So is this realistically a 2 channel amp and you can use either clean or crunch and then gain II?

This in stereo?. What reverb and delay.?

Hiss? Maybe at high volume not an issue.

This couldve killed the Engl fireball 25 had they put an internal load/ power scaling down to 1 watt. AND a noise gate! Loved the first Kraken Vx but way too loud, noisy and not practical for recording purposes. By now these features should be mandatory in all modern production amps.

Low power mode is 9 watts. Which is plenty low enough. 1 watt is silly. But yes, this thing needs a Fortin mini ZuuL on it. The high gain mode has a lot of noise.
@coltonmuri3672 Жыл бұрын
@@TheCyberMantis1 watt is probably louder than you think. I use Invective MH and only use the 1 watt setting for bedroom playing
@TheCyberMantis Жыл бұрын
@@coltonmuri3672 You lose so much low-end control with low watts. I have a Boss Katana head and a 4x12 cab. The Katana has 1w/50w/100w power settings. I always use the 50w setting for home use.
@coltonmuri3672 Жыл бұрын
@@TheCyberMantis Katana is not valve/tube, so the watts/loudness is not a straight comparison. The low end (resonance) depends on the amp design and which cab you use too. I have so much bass end with my oversized vertical 2x12" cab and the Invective has a modernized power amp section that has a powerful resonance knob that produces way more low end than the 5150 amp it was modeled after.
@yannickcharron3193 Жыл бұрын
@TheCyberMantis 1 watt valve amp is probably louder then you're 50w digital solid state.
