Got to admit, the fact this DLC actually starts with the consequences of the main revenge story is a pleasant surprise. Especially since there's truly no way they would've let it slide.

Yeah, it's a great tie in to the campaign, too bad precentor moir's logic is as flawed as the coordinator's many edicts, since with all the killings precentor yamada's mercs did to get the Star League storage facilities, if word got out comstar would lose all of it's reapution and be labeld as murderors*, it might take a while since using hpgs is out of the question...

If i remember correctly... Precentor Yamata was the Precentor you killed during the last Mission in the Commander Mason Campaign to get the Nightstar. Black Inferno worked together with Comstar.

Correct. To be fair, the main storyline was pretty much years ago so it's understood that killing Yamata was a bit of a distant memory unless you're a new player who wanted to play the story before focusing career mode.

@@Vision1100 admittedly, the default starting mechs of Dragon's Gambit do leave the impression Mason's revenge story did happen in that part unlike the others which really gloss over it unless the crew did their revenge far sooner than what most players took. Most of those mechs were the rewards during the fights against Black Inferno including Kane's King Crab and Nikolai's Victor, nevermind the Nightstar you got after killing Yamata.

12:40 little nugget of info, Yamata was the Comstar puppet master in the Annihilator from the main campaign that was pulling Black Inferno's strings. Excellent video as always Baradul, can't wait to do a fresh run on it with all my favorite mods!

Haven't had a chance to play the new DLC yet, but from the First 5 min of your video & the fact it is the war of 3039 it sounds like this is some solid new content with the best story/campaign yet. While the Draconis Combine are some evil bastards which says a lot for this grimdark universe I am really anxious to play this though it makes me even more excited for MW5 Clans!

Funny thing is if you are playing an older career mode,this dlc instantly tanks your comstar rep as you 'passed up' the offer. I mean I am kinda a FedCom loyalist as they pay me the most...and dracs are easy targets so I would take a lot for me to work with a drac. And I am rather stubborn,going to go down mauling anyone that brings me low. If you are going down,go down a legend.

I just want to put one thing in perspective lore-wise. The reason (one of) why Davion decided to aim his conquest at Kurita is that, otherwise, the only other viable area would be Taurian Concordate. And Taurians do not F around when it comes to war. As a state they predate the Star League itself and are the only inner-sphere state that did not sign the Ares Conventions. Meaning they do not adhere to rules-of-war as we know it in MW series. They dont play in "small scale" operations. If they are attacked, they go full annihilation mode.

Noketsuna Michi ( DC Warlord ) is a character form the " Wolves on the border " book. Another reference to this book is the Katana Kat Panther hero mech wich is Tetsuhara's when he was Noketsuna's commander

Going back to 3025 tech after playing with the YAML mods and clan tech takes some getting used to, but is very refreshing and really gives you an idea of just how bad the succession wars were to tech levels in the IS. The limitations are real! 😂

Any mech I personally pilot always has LRMs Medium Lasers and Flamers(for the small energy slots). I always like running the Swaybacks that have missile racks on their shoulders with LRM 10s(1x LT/RT) three Flamers (1 H, 1 LA, 1 RA) and two Medium Lasers(1 LA/RA). I found it is easier to over heat enemy heavy and Assault mechs and has allowed me to get several head shots. I of course max out it's armor, and the missile and energy weapons are on chain fire for their groups while the flamers can be used non-stop with very little heat My Archer runs twin LRM 15s (1 LT/RT) a pair of Medium pulse Lasers(CT), twin Flamers(1 LA/RA), max armor, believe it or not I have never lost my Archer once. BattleMaster the multi Missile Rack mech. Max Armor, DHS, 3x LRM 5, 1x LRM 15, 2x Medium pulse Lasers, 2x . medium Lasers To be honest I am heavily disappointed with the long bow. It's the terrible slot system that really holds it back. I would rather load up all the missiles in the Arms using LRM 5s as they are more effective over all and you can get a true rain of hell effect from that. But alas that's the massively terrible hindrance of the slot section. So I am staying away from the longbow as it doesn't live up to it's name. Other than that I find that this is a fun dlc. Though I have a massive handy cap. The snakes really, really hate me (max negative, lol), but then again I really, really dislike them, lol.

Death to Mercenaries edict: Had no impact in MW5 previously. The Coordinator had gotten angry at the Wolf’s Dragoons for fighting back instead of allowing themselves to be absorbed, and decided they didn’t like ANY Mercenaries. The result was a ban on hiring merc’s until after the Clan invasion.

I did like that it was actually acknowledged and had the big implication that a lot of people in the Combine itself actually didn't like the edict as...Well, the Combine itself could barely defend themselves at this point without mercenaries. They saw it as for what it is, the Coordinator having a hissy fit as his immense hate boner towards the Dragoons during the 4th Succession War had demonstrated. But it is an edict they have to obey, yet there's subtlety in play as long as Takashi Kurita doesn't notice. It's nice to see when not everyone is like minded as the main leadership of their respective factions. Because this edict in the canon did have a lot of people wondering how this dlc campaign could even work outside of accusations of ignoring it (admittedly it was kind of this prior to this).

​@DevilPogoStick To be fair, the guy expressing that displeasure, Michi Noketsuna, is unusually disposed towards giving mercs a chance. When he was a young junior officer, he was the assistant of Minobu Tetsuhara, a truly laudable samurai Mechwarrior who gained a great deal of prestige during his time working as liaison to the Wolf's Dragoons when they served the Combine. Because of various political machinations, the Dragoons were driven to escape the Combine, and Minobu (with Michi in tow) was forced to lead the expedition to massacre his friends. In the ensuing battle on Misery, both sides suffered immensely, but Minobu was defeated, and despites Jaime Wolf's pleas, committed seppuku to atone for his failure, knowing full well that he had been purposely put into an impossible situation by uncaring superiors. That experience shattered Michi's faith in Takashi Kurita, the Coordinator of the Combine, and he went on to seek revenge against Takashi while retaining reasonably friendly relations with the Dragoons. Later on, after the Clan Invasion, he'd even join the Dragoons and take part in their Civil War. So, in conclusion, I wouldn't take Michi Noketsuna's opinion of mercs as being all that common. He's a rare breed in the Combine, and that's putting it lightly.

He's playing stock vanilla right now to show off the DLC as it was intended to be played. Also factoring into that decision is the fact that every time a patch/DLC comes out it breaks all the mods and you have to wait for them to be updated 😆

situational reality was also in the game during cresent hawks revenge. i remember if your missle or laser missed the target but hit a nearby gas pod or whatever they were the whole area went up and the mechs usually died. airstikes too during the luthien raids v clans
